Could that be why POTUS made sure they released him yesterday, even though he may not have felt the best? He looked as though his breathing was laboured once he got to the top of the White House steps yesterday.
I don’t know how many steps that is (maybe 20-28?), but it’s unlikely he gets a lot of cardio training, so that might be a small challenge for a 74 year-old man, let alone a 74 year-old man recovering from a significant respiratory illness.

No, I don’t think the 4 days is the reason for him coming home yesterday; could be the declas and the VP debate.
There are limiting factors, noted under each point below.
Sequence is:
1) the VP and majority of congress writes to the president pro tem of the Senate and the Speaker of the House.
Need both the VP -and- a majority of Congress here..
2) the President rebuts them and resumes his duties, unless the VP and majority of Congress declare —within— 4 days.
Again, need both the VP and majority of Congress, and they have to respond in 4 days.
3) Congress votes on it.
