Today we did a refi for our house and a very nice black woman maybe age 50's came to do our closing. She asked us for our ID's and my husband had brought something he couldn't use and she spied my husbands concealed carry permit in his wallet and suggested we use that. My husband commented that he loved she knew what it was and she commented she has hers and it wasn't a normal thing.
While signing she was expressing how happy she was because she had just come from early voting. Then later in the conversation, we were chatting about coronavirus and she brought up Tucker and him mentioning the scientist who feels it was created. I agreed wholeheartedly and said "I feel we are quietly on the same page".
She said her husband was retired military now working for the government and she quietly, without saying the word "Trump", said she and her husband have to keep quiet concerning their vote and politics because they would have very little friends left if they admitted it. She is from Philly and also thought there would be a lot of upcoming fraud.
Good to hear. I think The Log Cabin Republicans (Gay conservatives) is still around.
I need to wear a mask in some stores. I wear a “TRUMP 2020” or “MAGA” mask when I do. Hispanics make up about 30% of the local population, but give me about 2/3s of the Thumbs Up or “Great mask” comments. Don’t know if that is significant or if Hispanics aren’t afraid to express conservative views.
Doesn’t seem to bode well for Biden in Arizona, though.
My wife was a nurse. Most nurses are liberals. Most black nurses....screaming liberals. One she knew well was “a devout Christian” who voted Democrat 100% of the time & saw no disconnect in that!
“Im not a mystery, just part of our silent majority.”

Used to be most people didn’t make bigass announcements about who/what they were voting for (outside of the obsessed political animals who live & breathe politics). Most folks just “did their civic duty”, went home, had some dinner and watched the returns (or went to bed & waited til the morning paper).
Good news!
Same here, she has a lot of relatives who are nurses. With few exceptions they are all liberals, especially the unmarried ones.
LOL that’s how I felt today...she was literally whispering (we did the closing at Panera) . I d wonder how many are planning to vote for him and they don’t know their friend is because no one will speak it.
For a Tuesday, it's been very busy on FR.

I don’t think it’s about government support completely because even self supporting black women think Republicans are bad. I think for some, they have been indoctrinated for forever that Republicans are racist and scary. As well as a distrust of white people. They get taught at church and in school and by the family. It becomes ingrained. I have some white friends just as brainwashed. I wish there was a way to break through it quickly.
I’d bet she isn’t surprised at how many blacks are voting for Trump.
Black and Hispanic citizens have to be careful who they tell... same with older whites. Lots of hotheads on the democrat left.
Later posts talk about the increasing Hispanic support. That reminded me of Biden’s comments at some Black & Hispanic conference:
“...NPR’s Lulu Garcia-Navarro pressed the presumptive Democratic nominee if he would “re-engage” with Cuba as president, something she suggested would have an impact on Cuban-American voters in Florida.
“Yes, yes,” Biden responded. “And by the way, what you all know, but most people dont know, unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things.
An “unmarried woman” is married .... to her government. And she loves anyone who promises her more government security.
Ill second that.
Is his name Tommy Sotomayor, by any chance? :-)
I recognize the name but can’t place it but he must be a good guy. No, that’s not him. :)
