If you posted it in a vanity on here, she would be the most important person that we all know that passed today, unless we too had a loved one that died today.

She is at the top of my list today.

It’s a tough day sometimes. I know cause pop is gone.

tough decision to either respect the day in whatever way one deems appropriate or ignore it because it is painful.

Hang in there bro.

Prayers out.

I was born on September 20. His untimely passing on my 24th birthday is something I won’t forget. Talented guy, as was his accompanist Maury Muehleisen who died with him.

No disrespect intended...he was a great musician. Years ago, there was a website where you could upload a sound file, and it would return the same file with cowbell added to it (this was right after the SNL skit). There were three cowbell settings - stable, fast, and extreme (fast and random cowbell hits).

The site had some examples to help you decide what setting you wanted. I heard "Time in a Bottle" with extreme cowbell, and it was one of the funniest things I ever heard.

That sounds pretty funny :)

And no singer or band out there is/are family members so you could say whatever you want :)

Great tune. Another in a similar vein is Rapid Roy that stock car boy. Now switching gears completely so to speak these songs take me way back to 70s high school basement parties and one song a bunch of us always sang along with was Elton John’s Roy Rogers. The soaring chorus of Turn on the tv shut out the lights Roy Rogers is riiiiiiiidinnnnnng toniiiiiiiiight was just bundles of fun to sing along to.

RIP Jim and Maury. A few years back, I was on vacation in San Diego. Had dinner at Croce’s (since closed, sadly). Best fried calamari I’ve ever had. His widow, Ingrid, was so gracious - allowed us to take a photo with her.

I liked Jim as well, who sadly died at the young age of 30 in, Natchitoches, Louisiana, about 2 hours from where I live. Oh I see now, he died on this date 47 years ago. That was what i was missing. He could have mentioned that to bring clarity as to why he was posting this vanity. 8>)

Pop singer-songwriter Jim Croce, 30, was killed September 20th when the single-engine plane in which he and five others were riding hit a tree on takeoff.

The other victims in the accident were Croce’s second guitarist, Maury Meuhleisen; road manager Morgan Tell; comedian George Stevens, a booking agent, and the pilot.

“It was a single-engine plane, I believe,” said deputy Walter Braxton. “It was taking off and it did not get any altitude.” The plane went past the runway, hit the tree, and spun around in the air before crashing.

Are you turning into a SJW, calling me a bully because of my questioning his motive for his post? 8>)

BTW, I have every song he sang in my music collection. So, I think I actually love Jim Croce, but not in a sexual way, just musically. 8>)

September 20, 1973, was the day before the lead single to his fifth album, I Got A Name, was released.

Here is his son Adrian's rendition of I Got A Name

He is one if those singer/songwriters who makes you wonder how many more great songs he would have composed for listeners to enjoy had he not died prematurely....

Grow up, I didn’t realize that today was the anniversary of his death. That happens when you are retired. You don’t pay much attention to what the date actually is on most given days. So I didn’t get the connection as to the reason of his post.

There were a lot of plane crashed back in the early 1970s.

I was just a 10 year old when Delta Flight 723 inbound from New Hampshire passed a few hundred feet over my head on its way to a fiery crash over at Logan Airport. It was a warm, foggy morning and I was on my bicycle not even three miles from the scene of the crash.

Then barely a month and a half later, another plane crash would take the life of Jim Croce.

"Time in a Bottle" was a posthumous number 1 hit and my favorite song of Jim Croce.

I was 10 when he passed. I had two or three of his singles, aka 45s.
