A new study purporting to show that the novel coronavirus was manufactured in a Chinese lab was published by a pair of nonprofit groups linked to Steve Bannon, the former top Trump strategist now facing felony fraud charges.
The study, co-authored by a Chinese virologist who fled Hong Kong this year, claims that laboratory manipulation is part of the history of SARS-CoV-2. Its findings were quickly picked up by a handful of prominent news organizations such as the New York Post, which hyped the explosive allegations that run counter to virtually all existing scientific literature on the source of the virus.
The study is the work of the Rule of Law Society and the Rule of Law Foundation, sister nonprofit organizations that Bannon was instrumental in creating. According to documents posted on the Societys website last year, he served as that groups chair. The Bannon connection was first spotted by Kevin Bird, a Ph.D. candidate at Michigan State University, and shared by Carl Bergstrom, a biology professor at the University of Washington, who called the study bizarre and unfounded.
A search of Google Scholar and the Rule of Law Society and Rule of Law Foundation websites indicates that the organizations have not previously published scientific or medical research, and its unclear whether the paper received any peer review. It was posted on Monday on the website Zenodo, a publicly available repository of scientific and academic research to which anyone can upload their work.
Both of the nonprofits behind the study were formed in conjunction with exiled Chinese billionaire Guo Wengui, with whom Bannon has collaborated on a number of advocacy efforts targeting the Chinese government and business endeavors that have drawn the scrutiny of federal law enforcement officials.

Never mind. Ignore post #36. I will read the article later.
“..Rather than deal with the accuracy of the information, and whether it has been properly corroborated, the article chooses to attack the people that financed the study....”
They’re trying to run cover for the RATs that likely colluded with the CCP on the planned virus release date. They’re scared and scared spitless that the public is going to find out what really happened and demand that they be publicly hanged for it.
“...Its both amazing and bizarre how the Left is stepping up to defend the Chinese Government...”
It’s not “bizarre” IF they colluded with the CCP on a planned virus release date. The SOBs have all probably been on HCQ since a week before the planned date.
The left (and by extension The Beast) does not really believe in science, do they?
It is much easier to simply denigrate the scientist, deactivate her Twitter account, and make her disappear than it is to have a meaningful scientific debate on the topic.
Debates are open forums for information to be released. They are not newsfeeds conducted in one-on-one interviews where editors can create narratives.
There is no question that CCP virologists traveled 100s of miles to recover the rare bats in question from deep within remote caves, and brought them to the lab. That was established by early spring.
But those bat viruses were not transmissible and dangerous to humans in their natural state. Getting the rare bat virus was just step one.
In layman’s terms, we’re back to the cow with the deer’s head, rabbit ears, and monkey hands. Something that could not occur in nature, unlike the normal dog with the black head.
Claiming that Covid-19 occurred naturally is trying to fool the layman with the dog analogy, when it’s truthfully the cow-deer-rabbit-monkey Frankenstein monster.
RE: And, of course, the Rule of Law Society should not be publishing molecular virology papers.
My verdict: Possible, unproven.

I only accept SCIENTIFIC arguments, not what someone should or should not be publishing. I believe there are MERITS to opening up the paper to the public like you and me to read.
That means IN EFFECT, an open peer review ( both pros and cons ) for everyone, even in the scientific community to refute or support.
I however, agree with you regarding your verdict AS OF THIS DAY IN TIME.
Agree.
The ChiCom money/cover up trail leads up through Congress to FRAUDci.
Thanks. Made my day.
Well, the Daily Beast, as a well known site for error-checking scientific papers, as well as never showing any animus towards conservatives, Trump, or having any contact with democrat political organizations, means that all data that shows the Chinese government being responsible for the pandemic is not just inaccurate, but it’s a well-known smear job by the Trump White House and only confirms that the Corona virus was originally dispersed by the US Army against the peaceful people of China and the rest of the world.

(Does this REALLY need a “/s” ?)
You seemed to have misunderstood me. I was pointing out that the article committed a “genetic fallacy”. That is they are bringing up irrelevant details about who presented the evidence rather than evaluating the evidence.
I was criticizing the Leftists here.

Correct.
Why do these writers believe THEIR story? The one that benefits China and hides the Chinese connections.
Why - in other words - should “we” assume their credibility at this critical time on a matter that has crippled the world to China’s advantage?
Yep...I looked up her Wiki. Interesting.
Concur.
Rasmussen has an agenda. An vicious anti-Trump agenda. A prolific pro-WHO/pro-globalist/pro-Chinese agenda. She will NOT accept counter-arguments to “her” version of what she wants us to believe.
There is little doubt that the Wusan Biological Warfare lab was experimenting and trying to tinker with the the COVID-19 virus and other SARS like viruses. Very much doubt it was an intentional release because that does not serve China’s current interests. Plausible story is that poorly paid lab workers sold infected lab animals to the meat markets in Wusan. What is interesting to watch is China’s propaganda response to this catastophre and how it it aided by fellow travelers and dupes in the US. Don’t be a dupe.
What a troubling, absolutely Bullsh*t article. 1)They never said how the “Rule of Law Society and the Rule of Law Foundation” were responsible for this study. So, they just threw it in, and tried to connect dots that were not there. I want to know who sponsors “The Daily Beast” reporters. 2) why are her facts not worth investigating? The left dismisses them as ‘conspiracy theory backed by criminal Bannon’ without even checking to see if there is a shred of truth in them. Is it worthy of being checked out, or not? If no, why not?
“Angela Rasmussen, Virologist at Columbia University”
(Yes...We can do Ad-hominum too!)
Note A Russian (!) name at “Frankfort School” Infected leftist university! (Should we discount her???)
A different article with a discussion of the issue. Some scientists say no, another Russian scientist says, yes manuafactured. (Dueling Russian Scientists!)

“Scientific assessments of the lab escape theory
On April 17 the Australian Science Media Centre asked four Australian virologists: Did COVID-19 come from a lab in Wuhan?
Three (Edward Holmes, Nigel McMillan and Hassan Vally) dismissed the lab escape suggestion and Vally simply labeled it, without elaboration, a conspiracy. (No bias here!)
The fourth virologist interviewed was Nikolai Petrovsky of Flinders University. Petrovsky first addressed the question of whether the natural zoonosis pathway was viable. He told the Media Centre:
no natural virus matching to COVID-19 has been found in nature despite an intensive search to find its origins.
And a Norweigan Viralogist:
“A new study about the possible origin of the coronavirus has found that Covid-19 is not natural in origin.
The study, led by Norwegian virologist Birger Sorensen, has found that the coronaviruss spike protein contains sequences that appear to be artificially inserted.
The inserted sequences should never have been published. Had it been today, it would never have happened. It was a big mistake the Chinese made. The inserted sequences have a functionality that we describe. We explain why t...”

Not saying I dont believe her, but she seemed to be reading phonetically from a script.
All existing scientific literature, from the same community that brought us man made global warming, i.e., climate change, is calling this suspicion bogus?
Sure, I'll gladly fall in step with the scientific "consensus." /s
