'Can you imagine telling Picasso what had to be in his ****** paintings!' Kirstie Alley hits out at the Oscars over their new 'representation and inclusion' rules for Best Picture [ed]

Actress Kirstie Alley raged at the Oscars' 'dictatorial' new diversity rules last night - claiming they were akin to 'telling Picasso what had to be in his ****** [ed] paintings'.

The Academy Awards shake-up means films hoping to win Best Picture from 2024 will have to hire more black, female, LGBT or disabled cast and crew or address themes that affect those communities.

Academy chiefs say the rules are intended to 'better reflect the diversity of the movie-going audience', but critics accused 'Woke Hollywood' bosses of turning the Oscars into a 'weapon against anyone who disagreed with their politics'.

Considering Picasso's treatment of women I am surprised he has not been cancelled yet.

Picasso was a Communist. They get a pass on morals, ethics and manners by the cancel crowd.

Will the Academy Awards celebrate the diversity in Gone With The Wind?

This is Hollywood doubling down on SJW stupidity like the major sports. There will be no more “normal” entertainment to watch in the future.

So all one has to do is make a B-rate film portraying a black transvestite in a wheelchair setting fire to a Pep Boys after calling them White Supremacists...instant Best Picture Oscar?

Affirmative Actions Oscars will always be suspected as being unworthy of the award.

Sadly, I agree. In addition, it’s tragic that a significant number of Americans will welcome this. Every time I hear the world “inclusion” I want to vomit.

They need to just be honest about it and change the name of the award. “Best Picture” no longer applies. Maybe “Most Woke Picture”? Think of all the past winners that would no longer qualify: (just a few off the top of my head) Schindler’s List — about saving a bunch of white people, no good. Rain Man — a white autistic guy and his brother bonding, certainly not. Forrest Gump - he had a black friend; TOKEN!, plus they killed off the black guy pretty quickly, not to mention that Forrest was named after the founder of the KKK, definitely out.

Picasso didn't need a manufactured excuse to explain why his art sucked.

IMO even the Hollywood elite have had about enough of this when it means THEY have to change what THEY do. Hopefully some will just make a good movie...meaning $$$...and not care about those stupid awards that truly mean nothing in the end.

Wooooah! GOOD for her!

I wish everyone would look at the kind of trash that the Nazis called ‘art’ … and listen to the ‘logic’ THEY used to replace real art with their garbage

Will Ricky Gervais be considered for MC? That’s the only way I’d watch this travesty. He was the reason I watched the Golden Globes (for the first time ever).

Well, not from the “big” movie houses. Then again, the movie inustry is like the music industry. It used to be that you had to use a recording studio and pay big bucks to get a good recording. Now you can use $100 mics and free software on your computer to get results the pros only dreamed of a couple of decades ago. If you have the good idea, you can make a top notch film for surprisingly low dollars.

It is annoying, though, when you can see the drone shadow in the scene. :)

Hollywood, as a monolithic force, is as dead as the record industry. They just don’t know it yet.

I only watch older movies. They’re from a time of real art. There’s enough of them to entertain me for the rest of my waning life.

Just a quick glance at what is showing on TV these days, it is certainly generous of white male actors that they have given up their careers to their non-white brothers. All they have left are villain and/or gay roles, although they look gay, so they merely have to play themselves.
