I'm just sharing here. For about 6 months I've known a particular middle aged man (who happens to be black) through a friend and a loose-knit network of friends. This man has had a very rough life because of bad personal decisions and is now homeless with four bags with everything that he owns in them. Tonight, I put him up in a motel-6 and bought him some food and it occurred to me that everyone thats helping this guy is white. As far as I know he has never sought out 'brothers' for help nor have I ever seen him with people of his race. Tonight it just struck me as odd considering what is going on in this country. Anyway...thats all. I hope that this post is okay here. Thanks. -KYW
You do know that there’s a “vanity tax” requiring an over and above donation to FreeRepublic?
8^)
It’s great that you guys do that. We won’t fall into the trap of seeing color as vividly as blm folks do.
Life is an odd thing.
I was on the subway going to an interview in Manhattan. My stop came and the doors didn’t open.
Some black homeless lady who I thought was NUTS and purposefully stayed far away from told me, in the most rational and well spoken manner “oh young man the first 5 cars don’t open at this stop but you probably make it if you run to the next car”
I don’t mean to sound cruel but I was sure the only people she had spoken to in a long time were the ones in her head.
I was wrong.
I know blm would be quite upset to know how many times a day whites and blacks probably help each other.
Don’t want to rain on their parade.
I have a similar friend in my life. Had been abused by her mother, rescued by police and CPS. Her (white) foster mother loved her and treated her well. Now my friend has mostly white friends and said she has a hard time trusting black people, and especially black women, since most of the people who are kind to her are white. She has some wonderful black friends (that are also my friends), but they’ve been called every name in the book (Oreo, uncle Tom, house n, coon, etc.).
But you’ll never hear about these stories in the news: “Diverse Friend Group Supports Disabled Woman For Decades Out of Christian Love - Race Not An Issue”
Sadly, it is the left that sees things in the reverse - first comes color, religion, or bedroom proclivity, or favorite sport team (though Cowboys fans are always dinged). A great recent example is "Chelsea Clinton Is Telling Parents How to 'Erode White Privilege Out of their Children" .
One of my favorite All in the Family episodes was where Meathead is shown via a board game that he sees people through only a political lens - Lionel basically says "you never ask me about the weather." While no side is perfect, I don't think the left has gotten less Meathead-like (I think it's gotten worse) since the 70s, while Deplorables would sooner burn white Dixie Chicks or Lady Antebellum records before a Hendrix or James Brown album or help a homeless man who happens to be black.
He stole stuff from a local store, and was not prosecuted, but was asked not to come back. Then he disappeared. I hope he is OK.
“Games Bunkers Play”. Season 4. Classic Bunker style.
You just help whoever needs helping.
You try and say something nice to someone for no apparent reason, every time you can.
You never know how close to the edge the person beside you is and what your little random act of kindness might mean.
Doesn’t cost you a thing.
Now that takes me back. Not your encounter with the lady but the doors not opening. As a tourist not familiar with the wonderful ways of the NYC subway that happened to me so long ago I don’t even recall the exact date but it was definitely in lower Manhattan and I almost sailed off into Brooklyn because of it. :)
Agreed...but it is very difficult to choose who can benefit from kind actions and one who is just working the charity system and efforts by very well meaning people.
You do know that theres a vanity tax
**************
No “vanity tax” needed. Notice he was
just sharing thinking all needed to know.
But your idea of a vanity tax would help
put some cash in the till.
By no means can the condition of a politically correct color class be attributed to anything wrong that they are culpable for.
Which is an ethos from Hell, by which souls are seduced by the victim-entitlement mentality, whereby the class that lacks benefits that others have procured by merit or by grace are told they are victims of injustice, and thus it is their right to obtain by disobedience - even by theft - the same benefits as a matter of justice. But not as a a matter of unmerited grace (which thus obligates the recipient to respond with gratitude toward the giver, and who seeks incentivize self-improvement). Thus mercy and grace and rewards based upon merit is replaced with a perverted idea of "justice."
Thus the Left can tell those of this class who commit certain crimes characteristic of those seduced by the victim-entitlement mentality that they are victims who are not to be blamed or feel guilty for their crimes. And argue that these should not be charged for such things, and even that they are owed the very things they stole. Meanwhile the hard-working capitalist is to be punished for his/her industriousness by being increasingly taxed - or unemployed if they will not essentially salute the BLM/LGBTQ flag.
Which is what we basically see with the original author of the liberal ethos, the devil, presuming to sit in the throne of God, (Is. 14:14) - climbing up some other way than by obedience, (cf. Jn. 10:1;Revelation 3:21) attempting to take over the "admin position," and after being cast down from his selfish presumption, he proceeded to essentially tell Eve that she was unjustly impoverished by God since she was forbidden from being like God (by eating from the one Tree that she was forbidden from eating of), and that rather than suffering from disobedience then she would obtain what was justly hers to have. Gn. 3)
All of which is contrary to the principles that God ordained, in which we are all recipients of mercy and grace, from being born with blood, breath and eyes, ears, taste, touch by which we can experience other blessings from God, that not being damned from our sins by redeemed and given eternal life to experience God and His heaven. In contrast justice would mean being damned.
Meanwhile it is good that you helped the homeless, yet we should always have the attitude that "when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do." (Luke 17:10)
I don’t wish to discourage your charity but...
I remember a homeless person coming up to me a number of years ago and asking for money to buy a hot meal. I told him that I would take him into a nearby resturant, get him something to eat, and then we could walk over to a place I was attending to see if we could get him a job. He turned around and hightailed it out of there.
These people choose to live this way. I know because I have some like that in my family. Don’t think for one moment that it is appreciated. It’s not. They collect EBT cards, go to food pantries from all sort of sources, get free clothing, free medical care if needed, and many other benefits. I had a (black) friend whose friend was a professional homeless person raking in $120K in NYC. Perhaps his “brothers” know the scam better than you.
If you want to give your funds to truly needy people, there are a number of worth while charities especially in third world countries where they don’t have good drinking water or medical care. I’m skeptical of “homeless” when they are begging in front of help wanted signs. It doesn’t do one bit of good if he doesn’t want to work.
Just so that I don’t sound completely heartless, contrary to what liberal preachers says, this is what the scriptures:
2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.
(From personal experience; no doubt...)
Who knows...
..it might be an angel unawares thing.
good one
1 Timothy 5:8
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
‘nother good one
