I think President Bill Clinton once asked Singapore not to do the caning on some American... Singapore did not listen to him...

Don't deal drugs in Singapore...

I don't think women prisoners ever get "caning"...I never heard of such an instance...

Why do I have this feeling that Singapore does not have a drug problem?

It would be great to send the antifa thugs to Singapore. See if they still think the US is bad.

Why does the article emphasize that he was a former schoolboy when he’s 31 years old?

Would he rather have been shot?

Drug dealers or other intentional lawbreakers knew what might happen. You rolled the dice and you lost. No whining.

The best part was when the lad’s parents went on TV to protest his ‘brutal’ punishment, a majority of Americans said they approved and thought we ought to do the same thing here. He was punished for graffiti, I believe.

I don’t much approve of prison.

I support death penalty for really bad stuff and corporal punishment for other stuff.
Time in jail may have it’s place, but I see limited utility in it.

He should consider himself lucky.Usually, drug dealers in Singapore die dancing at the end of a rope.

On my first trip to Singapore there was a big sign in the Arrivals Hall,in several languages, saying "Death Penalty For Drug Traffickers In Singapore" Right next to it was an amnesty bin.Despite being a lifelong drug free guy I was so spooked by the sign I was tempted to toss my blood pressure meds in the bin...just in case.

When you leave the friendly shores of the USA you have to leave your rights at the border.

I went to the UK two years ago. Even over there, I kept reminding our party we weren't in the US and had to follow the laws of the UK.

Singapore used to hang people for drugs. This guy should consider himself fortunate.

Went there twice in the late 80s, when I was in the Navy. All of us were forewarned: if you come back from liberty and your piss test comes back positive for drugs, you already know how you're going to be punished for that. But it will be nothing compared to what Singapore will do if their police catch you with drugs.

It's not like Singapore keeps their drug laws and punishments a secret.

Roll the dice, pay the price.
