The Romans practiced votive offerings, as did the Anglo Saxons. I don’t know what the Poles did, but the site appears to be in the right timeframe for that behavior.

not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. But much better than the current scheme being advanced by the Democrats.

Unless bark is present, the radiocarbon date doesnt and cant show anything of the kind (apart from an unverifiable coincidence). Dedrochronolgy. I wish those databases had been available when I was struggling to date glacial deposits.

If I'm honest, a few rare but notable times at work over my career I've uncorked Python lines and a co-worker finished the line. Most of the other people in the room had no idea what just happened. Things like "I'm invincible" may be met with "you're a loony."
Once when I was presenting at a conference, I asked if anyone knew what was the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow. Someone replied "African or European?" and my day was made.
Lately, I've taken to saying on conference calls "I don't want to go on the cart." Maybe that's too fresh for people. But hope springs eternal.

I like the way you think. Their movies are very quotable, except sometimes the context takes a bit longer than a non fan would put up with.

Now THAT is a great quote to say at a meeting where a few people are whining that the company's only paying for 80% of the premium for full-benefits healthcare, down from 82% while everyone got a 5% raise and a 20% bonus.
And you'll be stared at by colleagues who think you've lost your mind. But you're one laughing.
One of the more frequent lines I've heard uttered on large-scale conference calls is "don't sell yourself short, Judge...you're a tremendous slouch."

Of course it is radiocarbon dating. Modern dendrochronology is reliant on radiocarbon dating.

If they're casting votive offerings in the river, that sounds pagan, so, a little earlier than this. Mieszko got the population baptized.

Good point, but some of those pagan practices continued in the Christian era. Hedging their bets, like Halloween.
