US Grant severely criticized the behavior of Jewish merchants during the Civil War. Whether he was being fair or accurate in his criticism I do not know, never got that far into it.
There was widespread corruption by many, many non-Jews WRT supplies, contracts and the like during the Civil War.
It was despicable behavior regardless of who did it.
