Looks like another peaceful protest to me. By today’s standards at least.
I didnt really have to look to know about the teens... looked anyway; and it was more appalling than usual. Glad it was all on video. Hope that little princess spends several years in juvie.
Why did you turn your back to use a urinal? I’m sure no one else did.
I was in Memphis fro a meeting about 9 years ago, too. I kind of liked the classic city buildings architecture, the Mississippi river views, the vintage streetcars. I regret I did not go the fire museum. Beale Street was kind of cool.
That being said, one of our meeting attendees got mugged one night. No more Memphis meetings, was the decision by the company meeting sponsors. I always felt quite uneasy after dark, and also maintained my situational awareness. I doubt I will ever go back, especially now.

Well, she was given a juvenile summons for disorderly conduct. I’m sure she learned her lesson. /s
My daughter got her first job out of college at Northwestern Univ. in Evanston, IL. She was looking for an apt. that she could afford; and, her Supervisor looked with her and steered her away from the unsafe areas. I have always been grateful to that man.
Cut those teens some slack. No doubt they were upset by the death of civil rights “luminary” John Lewis. He would want them to fight Putt Putt injustice.
Yeah, and she looked and sounded like some snotty teenager. I love it when she talked about Cap and Bruce Banner as the "white boys". Sure, Bruce Banner is a genius, and Cap is something very special. But, yeah, "white" boys.
I hated the movie, Black Panther; mostly, I think, because of all the hype about it being such a "terrific" movie. I have seen almost all of the Marvel movies and Black Panther was mediocre at best. But, Oprah said it was a "revelation"; so, it must be great.
Only The Fantastic Four sucked more than Black Panther.
I’m hoping friends of the Putt Putt owners will start a Go Fund Me page for them. I bet many people would respond.
My daughter applied to UT-Memphis for grad school as an instate option. With scholarships, her total cost over 2 years would have been $10,000. She talked to a nurse practitioner who went there. The NP told how scary it was. She was told to seriously consider a different school, if it cost more. And she did.
I was a an engineering student at CBU in those days ('76-'81) .. and really loved my time in Memphis in those days (many were the Friday nights spent at Garabaldi's pizza and Overton Square).
But, even in those days, one could see the ugliness starting to emerge. I believe it was the summer of '78 that the governor had to call out the National Guard to patrol the streets of Memphis. The Firefighters union was out on strike and, coincidentally, fires starting springing up all over the city. There were even people taking pot shots at the "scabs" they brought in to fight the fires - many of whom were high school kids.
I know this is an old thread, but I had to let you know. The Mall of Memphis closed in 2003, and has been demolished. No sign of it now - replaced by trucking/freight businesses.
“Mall of Murder” is what we were calling it near the end...
