No it isnt.

Its conservatism. By its definitional nature its not libertarianism or populism. How you defend it may vary but what it is isnt populism or libertarianism. By definition.

I know it was you once I read the thread title :-)

We certainly won’t agree on everything but I get a kick out of your enthusiasm. I was like that once, I just don’t remember the year anymore :-)

Libertarian and populist and conservative all mean different things or else they wouldn’t have different words for them :-)

But there are enough causes in common to vote as a unit and kick out Democrats

Who are really nothing more than Communists at this point

The future of conservatism, is in a separate country, within the area now occupied by what is now the U.S.A.

FACT is that, there are two main groups of people living in the U.S. and they’ll never get along, much less run a country together.

So, eventually, there will have to be a split of the country. Liberals/communists/socialists/progressives/democrats in one part of the split, and conservatives/republicans/libertarians on the other part of the split. The left-wing side will cast aside the constitution which they hated so much, while the right side will keep the constitution of the original founders, but with the stipulation that, communism/socialism won’t be allowed

We all know that the far-left side won’t survive, since socialism/communism has never worked, anywhere or anytime it’s been tried The right side can work easily, as has been demonstrated time and time again, with such presidents as Reagan and Trump.

The two sides will never agree on most issues, and we have to face reality, sooner or later.

Every socialist government across the globe has produced poverty and misery and suffering and death," Cruz said.

We would be so much better of if the population understood this.
Unfortunately the majority of our people don't.

But at least more are starting to wake up.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarian_perspectives_on_LGBT_rights#United_States

Libertarian Party
In 1972, John Hospers, who was widely believed to be gay (although not openly so),[5] ran for President as the Libertarian Party’s first presidential candidate.[6][7]

In 1975, Ralph Raico helped to create the Libertarian For Gay Rights caucus within the party and subsequently published Gay Rights: A Libertarian Approach.

The second LGBT rights organization to operate from a libertarian perspective was the Libertarians for Gay and Lesbian Concerns. The organization held its first national convention in 1985 and sought to promote libertarianism to LGBT Americans.[8]

In 1998, Outright Libertarians was formed. Outright Libertarians are also affiliated with the Libertarian Party and takes many of the same position that the Libertarians for Gay and Lesbian Concerns did in the 1980s.

In 2009, the Libertarian Party came out against H.R. 1913, a proposed hate crime bill that would add to the federal hate crime statute the categories of sexual orientation, gender identity and disability. The reason the Libertarian Party opposed the proposed hate crimes bill was because it would violate equal justice under the law by creating different classes of victims for the same crime. The Libertarian Party also accused legislators of attempting to buy the support of the LGBT community while still opposing same-sex marriage and repealing Don’t ask, don’t tell.[9]

In 2013, the Libertarian Party applauded the Supreme Court’s decision United States v. Windsor to strike down Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) as unconstitutional. The Libertarian Party has supported same-sex marriage since its founding in 1971.[10]

“I am deeply a populist”.

Like Romney was severely Conservative? Cruz is an opportunist. He never ever uttered a populist word until Donald Trump cleaned his clock in the primaries. And, he subsequently witnessed the loyalty we who voted and will vote again for President Trump are to the Real Deal.
I have been saying for months, our biggest challenge in 2024 will be to weed out the posers, the Johnny Come Lately’s, like Cruz from the Real Deal Trumpians.

Populism and conservatism are both terms measured relative to the norms of the time. The Founding Fathers were not conservatives in 18th century terms (unless you say the British colonies had been largely self-governing and ignored by the king until the French & Indian War and the founders wanted to go back to that). An 18th century conservative would be interested in conserving the divine right of kings, or at most the balance of power between the king and the nobles. It was the 18th century radical who thought that people should rule themselves.

Likewise populism is usually contrasted with whatever the elite oligarchy currently believes. If the elites believe in cheap imported labor and enough bread and circuses to keep the masses passified, a populist belief might be to restrict immigration and a reduction in government spending. The left has fooled themselves by believing that all populist movements are socialist, demanding wealth be taken from the rich and distributed, thus they had no idea how to characterize the Tea Party of 2009-2016. In fact, populist movements can go both ways simultaneously so you can have one populist group pushing for socialism while another believing the government oligarchy is socialist can be libertarian.

Ted Cruz knows nothing of libertarianism, nationalism and populism.

He is 100% “Conservative Orthodoxy” and a neocon.

Populist yes. Libertarian no. I’ve never met a libertarian who was not more “lib” than libertarian.

Sen. Ted Cruz said the future of conservatism after President Trump leaves office can be both populist and libertarian.

How depressing. I’d rather have RINO’s than libertarians. And Populism is never effective for very long.

Here’s an idea. Try it. it Works:

CONSERVATISM.
