A friend who is a receptionist in a church in a high risk area was concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob them when they were counting the collection. She asked the local police department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that she get a can of wasp spray instead.
The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a lot more accurate, while with the pepper spray, they have to get too close to you and could overpower you. The wasp spray temporarily blinds an attacker until they get to the hospital for an antidote. She keeps a can on her desk in the office and it doesn't attract attention from people like a can of pepper spray would. She also keeps one nearby at home for home protection. Thought this was interesting and might be of use.
On the heels of a break in and beating that left an elderly woman in Toledo dead, self defense experts have a tip that could save your life.
Val Glinka teaches self-defense to students at Sylvania Southview High School . For decades, he's suggested putting a can of wasp and hornet spray near your door or bed.
Glinka says, "This is better than anything I can teach them."
Glinka considers it inexpensive, easy to find, and more effective than mace or pepper spray. The cans typically shoot 20 feet; so if someone tries to break into your home, Glinka says "spray the culprit in the eyes". It's a tip he's given to students for decades.
It's also one he wants everyone to hear If you're looking for protection, Glinka says look to the spray. "That's going to give you a chance to call the police; maybe get out." Maybe even save a life.
Please share this with all the people who are precious to your life.
Did you also know that wasp spray will kill a snake? And a mouse! It will!
Good to know, huh? It will also kill a wasp!!!
And best of all, immobilize a human!
True that !
I just wish it came in smaller, more convenient sized cans, rather than an 8 inch high can.
Also, as with pepper spray, if the 'perp' is wearing glasses, aim for the forehead,
as it will drip down thus affecting the perp's vision.
That reminds me that I need to get a new can of Bengal Wasp Spray. I used to hate trying to get rid of wasps until someone recommended Bengal to me.
Using Wasp Spray or any type of insecticide or pesticide “in a manner that is inconsistent with its labeling” is a violation of Federal Law. - just saying
pesticide - getting rid of pests.......it’s okay..............
so only use WASP spray on white chicks and guys, the BLM/antifa types or the meth users (or is that redundant?).
I think that Oklahoma outlaws the use of wasp spray for personal defense; I personally don’t care since I carry a .32 Beretta Tomcat with Hydra Shocks.
Did you also know that wasp spray will kill a snake? And a mouse! It will!
Are you kidding? The stuff you get today will barely kill a wasp.
I’m sure on the spray can there is a sentence or two that the product is only to be used as intended. It’s not meant to spray into someones eyes or face. I get the self-defense thing and doing what you can when put into a situation but the product is not intended for self-defense. Just my two cents.
You can buy pepper spray that shoots a stream for 20 or more feet. Also bear spray shoots 20-30 ft and would be more effective than wasp spray.
They should make pepper spray that shoots 30 feet!
This old meme has been floating around the Internet for decades.
Wasp spray may or may not be effective, but it is likely to be less effective than pepper spray.
There are plenty of pepper sprays that have as much range as wasp spray.
Wasp spray may be better than nothing, but pepper spray is almost certainly better than wasp spray.
Well neither is a two by four but it’s been used. My take is: whatever it takes to defend yourself, use it.
Pepper spray is a recognized self-defense tool that does not cause permanent injury - wasp spray is not, and using it could land the user in big legal trouble,
I suspect wasp spray would have to be sprayed into open eyes in order to be most effective. The attacker would just have to close his eyes and hold his breath for a few seconds, and walk clear of the area sprayed.
Oven cleaner works too.
Good luck - Glocks are Unobtanium, these days. Even my very large dealer says they cant get any.
I he lived rural for over 27 years. I have had a can of Wasp Spray at every door during all those years.
