So in honor of this day here is one of my favorite ways to make a chocolate treat that you can have for any time.
Take one sheet of (thawed) puff pastry.
Several bars of your favorite chocolate.
one egg beaten with bit of water (optional)
some sugar (optional)
Cut the pastry into two by three rectangles.
Place a 1 by 1 1/2 piece of chocolate on each piece of pastry.
Fold the pastry around the chocolate like you are folding a towel. DO NOT PRESS
Place on a parchment paper lined pan (makes clean up easier)
If you like brush the tops with the egg wash and sprinkle with sugar
Put into 425 degree oven for ten minutes
Remove and let cool.
Best when eaten still a bit warm but good when cold too.
What's up with that?
Yesterday was International Fried chicken Day!..................................
Btt fl8r
This reminds me of the time I made puff pastry from scratch, and one of the goals was a chocolate croissant.
Puff pastry from scratch, please God, rescue me.
Unfortunately, I’ve developed an allergy to chocolate. ...waaahhhh
Always thought having Chocolate Day in the middle of the summer heat was poor planning on someones part!
However, I will still partake! :)
How racist can an article get???!
Eating chocolate ice cream as I saw this thread :-)
Happy Chocolate day!!!
Being on a Keto Diet, thank God for 100% Cacao Powder and Erythitol.
Just had some mini Milky Way dark bites...
Found a good combo recently too. Got a food dehydrator to replace one I didn’t like much and dried some mandarin orange segments. Nobody had tangerines, which are better. On a whim, grabbed 2 or 3 orange pieces and a couple of M’s...
I have a new addiction...
This is probably my all time favorite -
Oatmeal Brownie Bars
3 sq baking chocolate (3 TBSP cocoa powder substitutes for 1 sq)
1 stick butter (NO, no margarine, just don’t do it.)
1/2 tsp salt (optional)
1 c brown sugar (can be reduced to 3/4c if too sweet)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg (well beaten)
2 2/3 c oatmeal
melt chocolate & butter over very low heat, stir constantly. (double boiler preferred, I don’t have one)
Allow to cool some, mix in egg, then all but oatmeal, mix well, then mix in oatmeal. (too stiff to mix much after oatmeal goes in)
Spread butter on sheet of aluminum foil big enough to line 8 or 9 inch brownie pan. Line pan, pour in and smooth out mix. Sheet of foil makes it easy to pull iut of pan, easy cleanup.
Bake at 425F for 15-20 minutes.
Cool, cut into brownie size squares.
Try to eat just one...I dare ya...
