That does tie in with the topic, doesn’t it?
I believe there was a huge removal of men the Crown did not want to have in the British Isles after the Battle of Culloden. But there were probably more than just that. The British Crown had the view that it was getting rid of malcontents. And it was. Very draconian. Such a sad period of history.
From Wiki
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Culloden
...Although most of those who did stand trial were sentenced to death, almost all of these had their sentences commuted to penal transportation to the British colonies for life by the Traitors Transported Act 1746 (20 Geo. II, c. 46).[77] In all, 936 men were thus transported, and 222 more were banished. Even so, 905 prisoners were actually released under the Act of Indemnity which was passed in June 1747. Another 382 obtained their freedom by being exchanged for prisoners of war who were held by France. Of the total 3,471 prisoners recorded, nothing is known of the fate of 648.[78] The high ranking “rebel lords” were executed on Tower Hill in London....
I know there is much more to the topic you raise, but there definitely was this action by the Crown to remove whomever it considered to be its enemies.
The Americas were not the only beneficiary of the ones sent away in chains from the Highlands. Australia was a penal colony and for quite a while, the enemies were also sent there over a number of decades.
Here is the specific info about the “Highland Clearances” you reference:

Mark Steyn is great - always enjoy him when I hear him subbing for Rush.
:) ::::::
We also sang Lux Aeterna and Navy Hymn. I will have to find the program from the Kennedy Center website.
I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers up.

So glad to see those Canadians doing this.

Starting with Paines words, which were a call to revolution, to this music, I feel Q is calling us to act. Is he calling us to take to the streets on the 4th? Shall we sit home as we are told, or shall we take our countrys birthdate into our own hands and celebrate it as we always do?
What does Q want from us, beside prayer?
I just read on Breitbart Ed Henry was fired, by FOX. I didn’t know that when I chimed on on Ed.
WOW!
Reportedly an old complaint.
Wouldn’t you know, right after you rehabilitate yourself.
I suspect that either the President, or Q via the President, will tell us. Among the things I'm beginning to suspect that are scheduled for July 4:
We'll receive our marching orders when the time comes.
“A turkey bagster”
Per William Archibald Spooner this is “a verbal felicity”
Here in the Midwest the turkey bagsters are all laid off due to covid! (No information on CA central valley!)
Thanks for that dig. I wouldn’t have had time to do it right now. I am going to explore all those links further to print before they go down the memory hole.
I can say with certainty that around here, people will be celebrating the 4th even if the cities don’t do their usual shows.
Would like to see program.
What a disgusting smear of Gutzon Borglum by the New York Times. I hate the “paper of record” more with each passing day. . .I didn’t think that was possible.
I’m thinking you be right!
