Cleveland Mayor - World Thinks We're A 'Butthole' City... But We're So Much More!!!
TMZ ^ | 6/03/20

Cleveland's mayor left a sour taste in the mouth's of many locals who tuned in to a discussion he had about the city ... referring to The Land as "The World's Butthole."

Mayor Frank Jackson was talking about his fair city and its charms on Wednesday -- but during the Facebook chat, he said yes, he's aware that many perceive Cleveland as Earth's anus ... so to speak. He very quickly made it clear, though, that HE doesn't actually believe that to be the case.

Check it out ... Frank says perception isn't always reality, and if you closely examine Cleveland's GDP and gross domestic capital -- it's actually fairly wealthy in that region of the country.

He's right, BTW ... there've been multiple studies and articles in recent years documenting Cleveland's output -- and the numbers, by and large, are on an upward trend dating back to the early 2000s. Even federal data backs up Cleveland's positive economic status.

>I was shopping in Cleveland in the late 70s for some high-end stereo gear.

The only high-end audio store in Cleveland proper was Audio Craft, located at 39th and Carnegie. A typical urban working-class neighborhood looking a little rough but mostly harmless. Still, I could certainly see something like the event you relate happening there.

They got bought out somewhere along the line, closed all their stores and moved to a suburb and now sell very high-end home theater and corporate A-V systems.

I think I still have the receipts — I’d have to go check. That sounds vaguely familiar.

While I don’t remember the name of the store, I remember what I purchased! I bought the very first Mark Levinson ML-1 preamp, Kenwood LO-7M mono block power amps, Dahlquist DQ10 phased array speakers, and a Thorens turntable with a moving coil cartridge. I’d just come back from working overseas for a couple years and was flush with cash, single and decided to splurge. That was the only time in my life I can say that I was “flush with cash.”

I still have the Kenwood power amps — in fact, I can see them right now in my living room. They are about 43 years old now. I had them re-capped a while back and they still sound sweet.

Leg Lamp, absolutely. Don’t remember if they kept the fire hazard number of plugs into the outlet for show.

It was cool. We always watch that movie at Christmas time, and yet still get a good laugh each time we see it.

If you do make it to the Rock and Roll hall of fame. There is also a WWII submarine about a block away. It is very interesting to tour.

We had originally planned our visit for May of this year, until the WuFlu hysteria hit. We already had hotel reservations and all. Saw that sub nearby. Isn’t there a merchant ship museum, too?

Proposed city slogans:

“You think Cleveland’s a butthole? Well, it’s not. It’s not.”

“Cleveland: Not as bad as it was in the ‘70s!”

“Our river is no longer flammable (pretty sure, no open flames, please).”

Yes the Mather. I have not been on it but a friend who was found it interesting. It might not be your style but the Art museum is really good.
