I always ask to give me an example of his racism. They usually will misquote what he said in Carolina. I explain the circumstances and what he actually said, and sometimes they don’t believe me, but they have gotten their facts from media and politicians.
They might say because he doesn’t want open borders he’s a racist, but if the person can be reasoned with at all you can deprogram them.

He has to follow the law. He could use the insurrection act, but he has to follow the law. After Katrina, people were mad because Bush didn’t go in there, but the governor didn’t want him. They finally passed some act so he could go into a state uninvited for disaster relief, but it was overturned in a later year.
He has sent national guard today, but they can only assist local law enforcement, not engage. Just as when they were sent to the border, they were limited in what they can do.

In the beginning my mom would come in and out. She asked me about her brothers, why are people telling her they were dead. I told her it was true. She started crying, saying it was so scary not to remember and she hoped it never happened to me. a few minutes before she took her last breath, I touched her forehead and told her it was going to be OK because she was going to be with her mom, dad and brothers.
