I agree that Math teachers should be specially trained. It’s impossible to make up for 8 years of kids not learning math appropriately by the time they get to high school. But that would mean Math teachers would probably need extra pay and the unions couldn’t have that.
When I was taking my competency tests in California in physics and chemistry, there were some current teachers that were taking the math test for the third or fourth time. They were coaches and wanted to teach math because it was a better position, more stable. Nothing to do with their love of math, can you imagine learning math from someone that can’t even pass a simple test on it? They be reading from the book trying to explain it. So obviously couldn’t even answer questions. ( the test questions were no more difficult than what you were supposed to be teaching)
I don’t blame you one bit. I was in a group of other engineers in Texas that were involved in a transition of stem jobs to teachers. Some weird program they had. Every single one of us quit teaching within a year or two. It just wasn’t worth the trouble, it really wasn’t about teaching anybody to know math. It was about teaching liberalism.

My husband has bought the lie that all those people at his rallies really won’t vote for him. Or something like that. That it’s not indicative of enthusiasm. I don’t believe that for a minute.
If he had sat through over a hundred rallies as some here had...hed understand people love our President and will go vote for him. You don’t walk a dark hyw and through a dark field at midnight without the intention of voting for that person your about to see. He wins people over.

I braved a long line at the McDonald’s drive-through this morning. A young lady behind me leaned on her horn and gave me the finger because I was taking too long to place my order.
“Take the high road for a change,” I thought to myself. When I got to the first window I paid for her order as well as mine. The cashier obviously told her what I’d done. She leaned out of her window, waved to me and mouthed “Thank you”, embarrassed that I had repaid her rudeness with a kindness.
When I got to the pickup window I showed the clerk both receipts and took her food, too, condemning her to return to the end of the line to start all over!
Another example of old age and treachery triumphing over youth and enthusiasm!
