Dont know if they will cover this, but as Grant was dying in poverty, Mark Twain stepped up and paid Grant to write his memoirs, giving fierce purpose to this warrior’s last days and peace of mind for leaving his wife with a means of support. Grants memoirs were a huge success and ultimately resulted in sales of $12 million( in current dollars)

The story goes that Grant died, from throat cancer, the day after his memoirs were complete

I saw where Leonardo di Caprio was the film producer? What is with that? Interesting if it will turn out like another Ken Burns film?

I skipped the bio because it was by Ron Chernow, a darling of the Left. His bio of Alexander Hamilton is the source of the rap musical :Hamilton", in which we learn that blacks like George Washington with the support of a hispanic guy like Hamilton won the Revolution. Chernow also joined a group of other historians to single out Trump as "the most horrifying" of presidents.

As to the documentary, throw in "produced by Leonardo DiCaprio", and I see it as a lose/lose project. I have read a lot about the Civil War and Grant already, so I'll pass.

I’ve heard that he was a drunk from some, and others say he had a small problem when he was out West.

I think Chernow spent too much time on it in the book. Suffice it to say that Grant may have had his issues with alcohol but it never interfered with his work during the war.

I only wish the South had won.

Even if they had won you probably wouldn't have had your slaves. Not at this late date.

Not the day after, but it was a few days after.
