Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver joined the growing list of NFL players with recent off-the-field issues on Saturday night as he was arrested in Houston on charges of DWI and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Oliver, 22, was taken into Montgomery County Jail after police were reportedly tipped off by another driver that someone in a Ford pick-up truck was not maintaining their lane. Multiple reports state Oliver had an open beer can between his legs when he was pulled over and a pistol was later found in his car.

Bizarre over-reaction, zek.
Did you bother to read the post that Pepsi was responding to?
NFL PLAYERS ACCUSED OF ARMED ROBBERY ... Arrest Warrants Issued
Legal (must be concealed if a handgun) as long as you are not committing another crime other than a minor traffic offense, a prohibited person, etc
By being under the influence he was committing a crime and therefore in violation of the law
Yeah, agree on that. That said, weaving over the line while driving a vehicle and carrying an open container of alcohol isn't the wisest thing. It's particularly stupid during this time, when according to most of the cops and firemen I know, it's crazy quiet here in Texas.
What makes it more problematic is that possession of a firearm while intoxicated is a class A misdemeanor in Texas. I'm too lazy to look up penalties for possession of a firearm while committing another offense (driving with open container.)
Would we be in agreement that what he did was stupid, but not worthy of pearl clutching hysterics? Fine and probation, put away the pitch forks.
Um, he was drunk. Firearms and alcohol together are bad juju.
Stupid and illegal.
The rest, I agree.
The National Felons League is just being themselves. The nightmare is people are still watching.
So if it had been unloaded he would have been OK?
This is a product of the Prima Donna Complex resulting from how the borderline personalities of the players are treated on college campuses and by college admin.
Which, for many of them is just a continuation of the same from high school.
The amazing thing to me is that anyone makes it through all that and still comes out a decent self disciplined human.
Yes it appears so.
Not sure what the exact definition of “loaded” is in Texas. Chambered? Mag inserted? Ammo in the car?
I used to be indifferent to the NFL thugs being arrested for being stupid criminals. Ever since the NFL went all in on insulting our anthem, our flag, our military, our ancestors, and our country, I celebrate every time another NFL thug goes to jail. I hope the NFL dies completely, but I’ll settle for more NFL felons in prison until that final reckoning.
The biggest advantage for NFL criminals is that their millions of dollars plus the always dependable “race card” guarantees innumerable “credible” witnesses for the defense...
Total agreement with you. My main problem was calling this arrest part of a nightmare weekend. You would think he raped and murdered people. The only real problem should be the DUI, and that is very common throughout the population.
——a pistol was later found in his car——
I thought it was a Ford Pick-up truck.
