Its just the flu, bro.
Some people are still saying that the Wuhan Flu isnt just the flu. It is just the flu, bro. Normally the flu causes 10s of thousands of deaths each winter. Now some Fear-mongers are saying that historically the flu deaths have been exaggerated by the CDC, which therefore makes the 60k (exaggerated, but nonetheless) of Wuhan deaths much worse than the flu. The reality is that there has always been a seasonality to deaths with over a 100k of people in the USA dying in the winter versus the summer (about 10%-15% more deaths in the winter than the summer). A large part of that is due to the flu. The excess deaths (deaths beyond the historical average) we see over the past few weeks represent a small fraction of the 100k of excess deaths that we see in the winter. Based on excess deaths one could say that this is not worse than any flu and perhaps much less than the flu.
Although it is helpful and true to equate CV with the flu or minimize it with respect to the flu, I fear that in the future that we will have created a bad litmus test. Future lawmakers will see models for future pandemics that will say that some virus is going to be much worse than the flu so NOW we can reimpose draconian lockdowns and strip our freedoms from us. Some of these politicians may concede that maybe it was too strict with the Wuhan Flu but this time it would be really justified.
Not sure how many Flubros agree with this because this is beyond the scope of the criteria to be a Flubro or Flubra but...I dont want some far in the future virus outbreak, that might actually be worse than the flu, to ever be used to justify a lockdown of healthy free citizens. I mean even with a really bad hypothetical virus (one that, unlike CV, might actually kill little children) - the policy should never be to strip away our freedoms and force healthy people to be locked down. This notion that locking down healthy people is an acceptable public policy needs to be permanently killed.

1 May: 9 News Australia: ‘Dead’ coronavirus particles cause recovered patients to test positive
By Inga Neilsen
South Korean health officials say recovered coronavirus patients may test positive to the virus for a second time due to “dead particles” in their system.
The Korea Centre for Disease Control and Prevention said 292 people in the country who were cleared of the deadly virus, later tested positive with officials originally thinking this was due to reinfection.
Now, it has been discovered that residual fragments of the virus are likely responsible...
Second-time diagnoses in South Korea continue to steadily rise two weeks ago, repeat diagnoses accounted for 2 per cent of the country’s recovered patients.
This week, the figure had risen to 2.7 per cent and 3.4 per cent among child patients.
The Korea Centre for Disease Control and Prevention says patients on average re-test positive 13.5 days after being cleared and discharged from quarantine however, the time spanned up to 35 days.
“Contact tracing on these re-positive cases is also underway to identify the possibility of secondary infection,” the KCDCP said.
“No new case has yet been confirmed that resulted from exposure to the re-positive cases. The contracts are still under monitoring.”

Your analysis is spot on. I think the problem with the Fearpers is that they are using this to justify the stripping of our freedoms. Our liberties are not conditional. What most offends me is the notion that I have to be compelled to do whats best for my family and livelihood. We have collectively lost the individual ability to act on our own.
I know whats best for me and my family and i will also not do things not safe for those around me. I dont really need the government to force me into it.
It is not that the government is fighting to strip us of our liver ties that concern me...its those among us who are happily handing those liberties over that scare me.
I kinda feel bad for a Fearbro who was going nuts on here yesterday. Sounds like he lost someone in that big Vets home outbreak in Massachusetts.
Very sorry for his loss but we can’t run the country based on that.
My mother died of lung cancer and I’m not out there trying to get smoking banned.

Funeral directors have been contacting Project Veritas and asserting that deaths are being falsely attributed to coronavirus in order to inflate the number of deaths.
Im guessing Kojack wont show. To few deaths. However I think the mental midget with the piss fetish will show. Lets make a deal. Lets just ignore the jackasses today
What do you mean? Surely not that we need a vigalence committee to enforce the lockdown?
Speaking of, piss boy has been quiet on these threads for a while now.
Youre too kind. If he lost someone I think he would have said so. I think he was using that as an emotionally point. Its stolen valor in my judgement until proven otherwise
Oh he was here yesterday
He got spanked

Our healthcare “betters” [spit!] must recommit to the idea that lockdowns, masks and other restrictions are control measures for those who exhibit the sickness, not the healthy. As much as I am loathe to say it, I think a statute should be promulgated to say just that.
Slightly Off-topic: It is interesting to note, in light of the recent PBS treatment of the control of polio, many videos of FDR at Warm Springs, GA showed him in the pools with children of all ages. Then, later stating that polio outbreaks happened in warm, humid weather.

LOL, glad to hear it. I was offline all weekend and missed it. I’ll check yesterday’s thread.
