Q is the result of the sacrifices and commitment of countless patriots to win back our captured country from the Deep State and achieve the transformation President Trump promised in this campaign video. President Trump has said the awakening of the public is key to this transformation.
Q describes this awakening as follows:

Anyone notice that much of the press is upset about protestors (and Trump) using the world “liberate”, but they voice no opposition to anti-Trump protesters using the word “resistance.”

Today, April 19th, is also the Orthodox Easter. Since the occults have been around for centuries, it’s plausible that they chose the date of the Orthodox Easter as their date to mock the resurrection. They then infused rabbits, eggs, etc. into our traditional Easter celebration to turn attention away from the risen Christ.
You’ve gotten a lot of good suggetions. I’m going to add one more. One that I have brought up a lot.
The whole Q thing boils down to just one very simple concept. I know a lot of people will say things like “do you believe in Q”. This is not a matter of believe, or is Q real or anything like that.
There is clearly someone on the internet writing as Q and he/she/they say they are inside the administration.
That’s it. Q is either inside or outside the administration. But, for some weird reason, the folks who think Q is on the outside, are the ones who are besides themselves. They are the conspiracy theorists for real.
It seems to me that the “outside” folks think the only way to stop Q is to out or doxx Q. That is just stupid. All it would take is one simple tweet from POTUS. I don’t think anyone, including your son, thinks POTUS doesn’t care if someone is pretending to be him. He talks about fake news everyday. One tweet. Q anon is fake news. That’s it. Poof, Q would be gone.
Also, why won’t the press ask POTUS? They just asked a few days ago about Joe Exotic for crying out loud. That should show there is no question to dumb to ask.
I wouldn’t get to in the weeds with him. Just let him know you think Q is on the inside. He thinks Q is on the outside. No problem, no need for him to continue with so much drama.

The virus by itself could have never had this effect. It was force-multiplied by the media.
Pelosi and Schiff should be hanged. They are identical in TREASON to the agents of Joseph Stalin who infiltrated the United States Government of FDR. I am referring specifically to Alger Hiss, Harry Dexter White and, most importantly FDR's "Co-President" Harry Hopkins.
Of course, besides Pelosi and Schiff, there are many other absolute Traitors, guilty of TREASON, in the media and government. We know many of their names, such as John Brennan, Hillary Clinton etc. NOTE: A person gets to be Speaker of the House by funneling money to the back benchers who lack the financial support from their own districts to get elected. THAT MONEY THROUGH PELOSI, and before that, RYAN, is a big part of how the United States government is controlled by interests inimical to America.

I regret there is nothing you can do to change his mind since he has essentially assembled propaganda in the face of the facts.

I’m sorry, but none of the content in his email indicates he has strong skills relevant to his “mission”. I suggest you not respond to his “mission” emails and focus on all his positive content and your personal relationship.
“And any truth-seeking patriot has a moral obligation to follow any and all valid and relevant evidence, no matter how uncomfortable it makes us.”
Unfortunately, your son is not following his own stated obligation. Logical evidence doen’t lead to Watkins; scraps of superficial tidbits must be pasted together without foundational evidence to support his “mission”.
The sum of the anecdotal points your son has assembled, some of which Watkins likely cultivated himself, do not lend even a superficial logical basis to his claim that Jim = Q. You can understand why we’re not able to assist you with this “mission.”
Had your son followed “any and all valid and relevant evidence”, he’d have waded through numerous Q proofs, analyzed substantial pockets of documented information,and added to it logic surrounding access to the president and Q’s collective capacity; this wouldn’t come down to what kind of pen Watkins uses, his appreciation for Yoga, or his posting about Internet content that others have been posting about for years.
So, as a parent you’re “stuck” with someone uninformed who believes himself informed to a superior degree, and he wants to “educate you.” An unwelcome tsunami of propaganda is likely to follow. However, the quarantine is in effect in most regions so you have an opportunity to signal your unwillingness to read more Q emails from him, and instead encourage any and all phone and email contact which doesn’t include Q discussions. This can prepare you for the most harmonious in-person reunion with no further discussion of his mission. Good luck.

I think I need to change the name of my DAILY column from "Growth" to "New Cases."
The reason for this is that patients are also leaving the "System" through death and through "Recovery."
The "Recovery" numbers which are published are almost worthless; but, it is reasonable to think almost everyone who was confirmed as "Infected" 4 weeks ago is either dead or recovered. Hence they are no longer in the "System" of infectious persons, although they are still counted in the Totals.
FOR EXAMPLE: One of my daughter's friends was tested POSITIVE over a month ago. She never developed significant symptoms, and WAS NEVER CONTACTED FOR FOLLOW UP BY ANYBODY. Hence, she does not appear in the statistics as "Recovered."

IMO, if it weren’t for NYC & MSM, Brix, and Fauci, the country wouldn’t be shut-down, and this would be treated like the flu...which it has been and is treated like the flu even as we speak.
