Here’s something I think you’ll find quite interesting… These crazy images were created by French artist Jean-Marc Cote, and a few others back in 1899, 1900, 1901, and 1910.

The point being.. Well, basically they were asked to imagine what life would be like in the year 2000. According to Collective-Evolution, these artworks were originally in the form of postcards or paper cards enclosed in cigarette and cigar boxes

One big mistake is the architecture shown in the background of each image is still circa 1900. They have failed to anticipate even slightly later trends like art deco, let alone something as radical as mid-century modern or contemporary.

I’d rather throw Alka Seltzers in the air. One drink of water and they blow up real good!

Switch the plane for a police helicopter and that could be Baltimore today.

Yes. One area where the artists lacked imagination. I think steel had not yet obtained its role in modern architecture, and I guess its abilities were not yet known then.

That’s very interesting. Flight was a common theme for them, although they greatly over-estimated the potential for individual use.

They also greatly overestimated mankind’s exploration and use of the oceans

And the drawing with people racing on barracudas is just bizarre….

"An Explorer" looks like a scene from a 1920s version of Jonny Quest.
