Yesterday's thread here:

Before the late 20th century, most people were skinny. They did something to our food around then.
As a guy, and I don't speak for others; I'll take sweet, caring, and sexy over skinny and uptight, any day! :)
Yes, young women tend to be so.
Throwing up for nearly 3 days, rupturing my esophagus (throwing up bright red blood will get your attention!) in the process and getting a trip to the ER + drip + monitoring room for 12hrs...but I lost eight pounds!
Lost more than that because I was on a liquid diet to let my esophagus heal for a while.
She wasn't unhappy with the weigh loss, but that's a pretty expensive way to get there.
“We need to dust off the history books and read how our great granddads, and mothers, dealt with the Spanish Flu outbreak”
That would be a good reading assignment for me. I have learn more about Spanish Flu in the last month. I did not know they lock down and put on mask too until the last two weeks.
My brother is predicting a food supply train breaking (aka real food shortage) if the stay at home is not lifted by May 1. He thinks we need to roll the dice and restart to keep the food chain going.
I agree with the ‘something happened in the late 20th century’.
That’s a whole nother subject.
Food supply is the one thing that’s still running actually.
“If you think liberty is about holding up a Bic lighter while singing Free Bird, you are nothing but a peasant”. No...I never said that...you did. Just where did you get that mindless drivel from?
“...mindless peasant.” Stop projecting.
“...like-minded louts.” What is with the personal insults? Pretty classy.
“...indulge in boorish buffoonery”? So people who have a view that differs from yours are both boors and buffoons? Again, why the personal insults?
Obviously, you have some unresolved issues. Hopefully, you will seek professional help for the apparently hate-driven and fear-driven negative attitudes you possess. It must be difficult to live such a life.
I wish you the best in gaining resolution to your many problems.
Geez, you did have a bad case. Almost fatal, it sounds. I’m happy you made it! You’re one smart lady, from the reading of your posts.
Agree.
I agree with your brother. I think food will be a serious issue for all of us by the end of the month. Just read about many meat processors shutting down. Now's the time to fill up the freezer for those who haven't.
Besides our HCS workers, we need to also supply PPE to those who keep our supplies coming! I pity the government bureaucratic hording warehouses of PPE, if they're found out.
Half of the food goes to retail shelf. Half goes to restaurants. The demand for the restaurant part is down to 1/3 of prior demand. Few trucks are running. Much of that food is spoiling in place. There is no alternate delivery channel.
Thanks!
I wasn’t that close to death. Apparently that’s not an immediately fatal thing most of the time. Just need to get on something to stop the vomiting, an IV for a while and water for a day or two. That heals fairly quickly. I was back on regular food within a cpl of weeks.
Hmm, I thought there was an EO a cpl weeks ago that was supposed to alter the distribution channels for that stuff.
That’s not something that was a big deal in 1918. Most people at food at their own homes. Restaurants, for all but the very wealthy, were a bigtime treat.
Sorry to hear about the DKA/seizures. That’s scary! That’s what I’m talking about. As a guy, I’d be so happy to be alive, how much I weighed would be the last thing on my mind. Apparently, not the great majority of women though...Lol
Three days, though! You must have often wondered if you were going to make it?
I wasn’t the only one. Whole dorm of us.
Housekeeping kept a wide berth and I can’t blame them at all.
Were you able to determine the source?
Thanks Lil !
