If it’s true that people have been living underground as captives of the DS, are there any special medical issues that they will be facing when they are rescued? In particular, is there a reason why many/all of them might need ventilators? I can see a definite need for masks and protective gear, but IDK about the ventilators.
It seems odd to me that POTUS would be pushing for a massive effort for ventilator production if they are not needed for cv19. And all evidence seems to indicate that they are not.
Can anyone think of some other reason for a huge increase in the number of ventilators?

I was thinking about various reports of feral children that I’ve heard of over the years. Now I am wondering if there is more to those stories than reported.
Not a medical person, but I have had the thought that Trump wants the ventilators on hand in case the Deep State unleashes some sort of gas while the WH are rounding them up.

Might depend on how much fighting there is before they’re reached by the rescue teams. Could maybe end up being a whole lot of caustic or toxic smoke filling those tunnels.

WOW! I had not thought about that, but yes, it is possible that kids who have been confined underground could possibly be dealing with respiratory mold infections. It would depend on how finished and dry the underground places are, but if they are primitive, then with dampness, there are molds and bacteria and other respiratory infectious agents possible.
I recall listening quite a number of years ago to a spelunker talking about his hobby, and he mentioned that there are some respiratory infections which spelunkers can become subject to without taking particular care.

Could be they’ve been kept in pressurized rooms or containers, which might have caused a deficit in the ability of their lungs to maintain pressure in the outside.
I think he pushed it before he found out why and how they were being used (abused)

Maybe the tunnel dwellers will have to be sedated while being removed from the tunnels. Then the ventilators will be used to get their bodies adjusted to above ground atmosphere?
They might have to adjust to daylight and air quality(?)
Remember when the boys were rescued from that cave, was it in Thailand? How were they treated when they were rescued?
How deep do you think the kids are? The air is ‘thin’ to those who do not live at Mile High City. What if you were deep underground? And came up to sea level?

However, my quick perusal of the literature does not show the need for mechanical ventilation as a therapy.
But, if the patient is in very poor health...?
