Email: matthewmckee2@yahoo.com URL: Comment: I just don't understand the hype. If CNN reported 24/7 every year the case and death toll of the regular flu, nobody would ever leave their houses. Here in one of the hotbeds of COVID-19 (Santa clara county) the hospitals that the media have said are over run and the staff is overworked, how come the hospitals are actually empty. At Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, over 100 nurses are not working and nurses that are scheduled for 8 hour shifts are set home because there is not enough work to keep them there. Why is the governor asking for nursing students and retired nurses to work if this is the case. Who is behind the false hype? What is the real agenda?

I hear that hospitals have been putting off elective surgeries. That was in anticipation of being overrun with virus patients. But the virus patients haven’t flooded the hospitals at least not yet.
To: WLusvardi
All elective cases cancelled,
All non-emergent procedures cancelled,
nonessential staff furloughed
hospital clearing the stacks for an expected onslaught

A couple of weeks ago, there were 4 coronavirus patients at Good Sam, all of them had recently arrived from the same trip overseas (a nurse told me). I don't know what the situation there is now.

I drive by Good Samaritan everyday and the parking lot, which is usually full, is only half.

MISSION: Like NY’s Cuomo, it’s all about make it last as long as you can.. The Dems control all facets of life in this state.. and death here as well where Death Row inmates die of old age .. To say the local and state media&mechanism is in their pockets is a non-starter.

NYC has a pretty serious problem.
The rest of the country? [shrug] Not that much.

Fauci and Birx convinced Trump to extend the lockdown with data saying we're all going to become New York. If they're wrong there will be hell to pay.

Now you do.
Actually, I don't - the big Santa Clara valley hospitals are Good Samaritan, OConnor, El Camino, Stanford, Kaiser Permanente. I don't know how many cases they have, whether they're running short on beds or supplies. Hopefully the news will have some information soon.

I did years ago! He cut in to both my hips. Was an interesting time interacting with him.

I do understand why a cautious approach might seem advisable. But NYC is a very special case. Densely packed, public transportation, lots of homeless with poor hygiene, lots of immigration from all over. The deck is stacked against NYC.
There is not much reason to think North Carolina is going to follow that path. Or Wisconsin. Or really anywhere.
