The pastor of a Tampa megachurch is facing charges after refusing to close its doors despite a "safer at home" order in effect in Hillsborough County, meant to stop the spread of COVID-19. The sheriff of Hillsborough County says one of two Sunday services had up to 500 people in attendance. Sheriff Chad Chronister and State Attorney Andrew Warren on Monday announced that an arrest warrant had been issued for Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne. Sounds like you said, “Baaaaaaaaa”.
Be prepared for National Guard in your community. - Ohio press conference live.
Well that is the difference between you and most of the other people on this site.
By your own admission, to you the constitution is optional.
To be adhered to or ignored. Others have fought and killed and faced death to maintain those rights enshrined therein.
Man, has this place been exposed. LOL.
Can the Governor come between a man or woman and their pastor, priest, rabbi and God?
Jim Crow laws were legally enacted in many states. These orders may or may not have been.
Quarantine of KNOWN infected and contagious individuals is not taking place here. These are projections, predictions and assumptions.
Subsequent positive test can show a likely association, but only RDA tracing can confirm A to B transmission.
I often wish people would behave differently, but there are more lethal risk taking behaviors.
Somewhat off topic - Does anyone else see a “better red than dead” attitude in some of these conversations?
Rodney Howard Brown, for those who dont know, is one of the most prominent leaders of the “Holy Laughter”, “Slain in the Spirit”, “Joking in Tongues” movement.
Hmmm... I am curious. I have an aunt that goes to Lancaster county all the time. I’ll see if she knows.
"We brought in 13 machines that basically kill every virus in the place," Howard-Browne said. "If they sneeze it shoots it down like at 100 miles per hour and it will neutralize it in a split second."
I was in the area last week. I don’t know if business establishments were open or closed, but I saw the usual Amish buggy traffic on the back roads where I was driving.
I’m betting they aren’t selling that awesome home made root beer and so forth. I can’t imagine they haven’t restricted contact with the English in some form.
That was my first thought, too. I have never trusted mega churches, though. The only large church I do trust (and they don’t fall into that category) is Times Square Church in Manhattan. And those pastors wisely chose to close all services and are streaming.
That said, it is the flock’s responsibility to continue the financial support of their home church.
Rodney Howard-Browne, “the Holy Ghost bartender” of yore, is a complete loon.
AC
You are really JUMPING to conclusions there. Is that typical Freeper behavior?
Were ALL 500 0of the attended COVID positive?
So, the pastor is guilty until proven innocent and his parishioners are considered infected until proven virus free?
Well, it’s easier on the courts. Heck, let’s just put him in jail for 2 years without due process. Easy-peasy.
Rights that come from God, or, by virtue of being alive, are extra-constitutional and not granted by the acceptance of the Constitution.
Liberty is the existence of free thought; a conscience unbound by the ideas of other men.
Wave those credit cards in the air!
I hear you——until it’s time to flood the hospitals and I can’t get in because 1000 additional people got the virus...now endangering my life.
Those who give up freedom for safety or security, deserve none of the above. having said that, i am avoiding all crowds of more than two right now. I do not see how they can arrest anyone though. It’s that silly constitution thingy.
Okay, I didn’t see he had a warrant for his arrest-—Yes, that is wrong.
Dude — I’ve been here since 2000. I’ve seen it all, and it ain’t “jumping to conclusions.” :-)
I hear you -- until its time to flood the hospitals and I cant get in because 1000 people got lung cancer from smoking ... now endangering my life.
I hear you -- until its time to flood the hospitals and I cant get in because more than 100 people die in motor vehicle crashes every day ... now endangering my life.
Vicarious "endangerment" through the secondary or tertiary effects of living in a free society is a classic argument used by every totalitarian who wants to turn you from a citizen into a subject. Keep that in mind.
If you want to be safe, go to prison. Do you think Paul Manafort would like to get some possible coronavirus exposure in a restaurant or church right now?
