A company in Austin, Texas is looking to dock pay from workers who receive government stimulus checks, according to an anonymous employee.
With the historic $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus deal signed, Americans can look forward to receiving some economic relief during the pandemic.
An unnamed company in Texas, though, appears to be looking to use the stimulus to relieve their payroll strain.
On Wednesday, the company sent out a form titled Employee Acknowledgement of Government Assistance Pay Reduction.
The form was reported by an employee who wished to remain anonymous, but the employee spoke to local news KXAN about the situation.
The form says they are preemptively deducting funds from our paychecks. That number is based on what theyre anticipating the government relief fund to be, the worker told the outlet.
The company that I work for is a national company and they make hundreds of millions of dollars in profit a year and instead of making sacrifices at the higher levels, theyre passing it on down to everybody else.

“A company”.......all I needed to know. GG, thx. /s
Like WTF?!

The law is quite clear on the amount you will receive ($1200 per individual and more for dependents). Trivial to calculate the amount of the check.

Almost everyone paying taxes will get a check. Your company knows and it knows how much the law says you will get.
Some may not have enough income to file a tax return but then the issue is moot, they don’t have a job.
The law is also clear that the payments are reduced at certain income levels. How does my employer know what I am reporting on my tax return? And how does employer know what my SPOUSE may be reporting on a joint return?
Why no unredacted image of the alleged form with that name on it?
Yep- double dipping. Why are they mad? This isn’t supposed to be a windfall.
If you are already getting paid, you don’t need to be paid again by Uncle Sam.
And me.
Unnamed company, unnamed sources, etc ... most likely fake news. Kind of like a few days ago when that reporter chick said she was ‘offended’ by a Trump Admin person using term ‘Kung Flu’ but would not name the person. She obviously made the whole thing up in order to cast shade on PDJT.
But seriously, as a small employer I would consider making payroll adjustments regarding currently active employees. If I had any layoffs or furloughed people, those are who should be getting the government relief.
You are exactly correct! The blackouts are too precise to have been done by a marker. This is definitely a fake.
Where did I say I supported the pork items? Nice try
And then, those workers are not being provided with any kind of PPE like health care workers are (and even they are short on supplies) and even with gloves and a face mask on you still have health care workers getting sick much less those handling cash everyday. And that includes gas stations as well. physical monies are being exchanged, the workers are at risk and risk their lives and health to make sure you have food, gas, and other supplies.
Next, you have those on the front lines, Fire, police, health care, Doctors, Nurses, Techs, Secretaries, etc. All putting it all on the line while evryone else hunkers down. So no. There will be mass class action lawsuits if employers attempt to do this and who are likely taking money for themselves as well. Double dipping. Any company who tries to do this is asking for massive legal action. If the story is true, which I don't doubt because it is coming from others now as well, then this is a major problem.
Lives and health on the line, and hour reductions especially in restaurant and food, etc. Other companies like Wal Mart have cut from 24 hours to closing at 11pm , then at 8:30pm. This is not going to happen before major major lawsuits begin.
At this point it is a rumor, no more.
If true I don’t blame them at all. Anybody still getting their income uninterrupted shouldn’t receive anything. This is not a stimulus bill. If your on social security you shouldn’t get a check. Retired city, state or fed employee’s shouldn’t receive a check. If your company continues your pay even though you can’t work due to mandated closures then your company should receive the check.
Reduce my pay, ill reduce my work.
On the Fox New story comments, someone said the company was Delaware North.
Nice try, what? Being from a half-retired family, and child if recenly passed oarents who were in that category, it irritates me when others think certain sections of the taxpaying population do not need the money.

They don’t always but the company could allow those who think the company withheld too much to present proof, ie, a tax return.
I’m not defending the company. Merely showing how a company could implement this policy.
For the record, I think this is fake news, something a BernieBro would invent to castigate “greedy” corporate America.
Yeppers, that pipe comes down a whole lot faster than it went up!
Uh -- what?
The confidentiality of a Federal tax return is protected by law. Isn't that what President Trump has been saying for years? And yet you're telling me my employer can force me to show it to him in order to get paid what he has already agreed to pay me?
Sorry -- but this story smells like bullcrap from top to bottom.
If there's any truth to it, this may just be a marginal company's way of enticing people to quit so they can't collect unemployment.
If the company is paying them for no work then it makes sense. Lots of businesses are paying for no work because they were lead to believe an illegal edict from a mayor or governor to lockdown was temporary.
Must be a former California based company.
