Alberta’s Child wrote: “If I work for an employer and the government sends me a check for any reason, then how does the employer know how much I’m receiving from the government?”

The law is quite clear on the amount you will receive ($1200 per individual and more for dependents). Trivial to calculate the amount of the check.

The law is also clear that the payments are reduced at certain income levels. How does my employer know what I am reporting on my tax return? And how does employer know what my SPOUSE may be reporting on a joint return?
