If eyes are windows to the soul, what was left behind in the grocery stores after coronavirus panic buying are windows to what Americans wont eat even in extreme circumstances.
People began sharing pictures on social media of what items were left behind after the shopping surge. The foods such as cauliflower crust pizza or chocolate hummus and the empty shelves once stocked with more appetizing foods are juxtaposed.
Carrot spirals were unpopular enough that Twitter users from different Trader Joes locations shared their pictures of the same stacked up boxes.
Chocolate and buffalo hummus were also left behind, confirming that the flavored hummus debate hasnt been settled.
Vegan and plant-based can be seen in proportions that appear recently stocked.

funny about the face masks...it bought a bunch way back in January....I think we took one out to give to my 90yro mil....if I am not coughing or sneezing I don’t wear any mask...
you remember that commercial?....when we were still in NYS, the commercial would be "in New Jersey?"
“All except for one space on the isle that had plenty of King’s Hawaiian bread, ALL of it was just sitting there untouched. I didn’t buy any of that sugary crap either.”
It’s great with spinach dip
but that’s the only thing
I will eat King’s Hawaiian bread for.
When I wrote that pasta is “pretty much all we’re eating for dinner here,” I was using a little bit of hyperbole.
I also have potatoes, veggies, broth, eggs, flour, etc., but I bought much more pasta because that’s what I could afford on a very tight budget.
Costco had a bunch yesterday
Hmmm...I see there is no fresh whole bat on the shelves. I guess they cant keep that in stock! ;-)
I was at Walmart today and to was still gone... I also found all the weight lifting equipment was gone.
Manhattan clam tomato soup. Wouldn’t dignify it by using chowder in the same name.
they scraped the mussels off the bottom of the whale boats, to eat.Tthen shifted to each other.
A few months back a good friend & I spent a rainy Saturday listening to the Steven Wilson remixes of King Crimson's early albums on his kick-ass stereo. Lizard was always my favorite (even Fripp refers to us Lizard fans as strange), and the remix really pulls the passionate playing out of the original, somwhat muddy, mix. And crank up the Lark's Tongues in Aspic.
True.
Well...that can be said of anything “well made”. I nbelieve you.
But, of course, this thread is about cans left on the grocery shelf when everything else is gone. LOL!
Manhattan Clam Chowder?
Or Toilet Paper?
:-)
That’s what I meant about “exotic fare”.
I was trying to be NICE. hahaha
If you’ve seen them recently, I think it is the songs from Lizard that have improved most dramatically when played live. This band is much more competent technically than that band was. I also think there’s a bit of an added bonus in that Lizard was not as overplayed by most Crimson fans (well, other than by you strange Lizard fans) so it seemed more like new material. Circus in particular just comes off really well.
Saw them about two years ago, performing sets of their old material. A potent mix of old & new musicians - finely tuned.
C;am chowder is super easy to make. Potato soup...add clams.
Whole Foods still had a supply of nail guns and 12-lb sledge hammers.
All the cement mixers were gone.
:-(
I grew up in Central Massachusetts, and my mother always made the Manhattan clam chowder. I chalk it up to her French-Canadian heritage. I never ate it again after I got married and left home.
Olives and artichokes are both really good things to have in the pantry.
I stocked up on both last week.
