Really good vid. Doctors like this are a blessing from God, and at the same time need our prayers.
Many good points are made, including the prefilter over the N95 mask. And getting outside some!
I wonder if there is up to date tracking of hospital admissions overall, and (probably would have a bit of lag due to the time needed for test results to come back) hospital admissions for COVID-19, particularly in hotspots like NYC.
It certainly does not sound like we have kicked the virus’ behind in NYC...
Found this from Wuhan.

“Among the 67 patients who received mechanical ventilation, 44 (65.7%) died, 14 (20.9%) were discharged from the hospital, and 9 (13.4%) remained hospitalized. The median time from admission to developing ARDS was 2 days (IQR, 1-4 days). All of the patients who died had developed ARDS and received mechanical ventilation.”
Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus.
I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the governments response via video-conference as we fight this virus.

So about a third of those who got intubated survived. Around 0.5% give or take 0.3%, estimating. So when the smoke clears the drugs might have saved a third of the est. 5,000 total deaths. IOW even if they work the drugs will make a difference to at best a couple thousand people. Not to be too callous but at this time its statistically trivial.
But if the drugs are given early enough to stop the disease from progressing to ARDS? If the drugs can do that.
Thank you.
That helps a lot.
Not to the people who survive.
Sometimes it's about more than stats.
The value of a human life cannot be measured in numbers.
The decisions you make to get the most people into the life boat have to be unemotional. Take the Armys Course in Combat Casualties. You learn how to make all these choices. On the battlefield. Where these choices belong. Not in the ER like they are doing in every urban center right now.
Wonderful news!
Amy K’s husband has gone from coughing up blood with pneumonia to doing fine..with no mention of his treatment.
It’s upsetting to see that Prime Minister Boris Johnson is infected.
I think if he succumbs to the disease, it will have a big impact on people’s attitudes, and feelings, especially in the UK.
I think it will scare a lot of people. Hopefully that would result in positive behavioral changes, but I’m not sure. It could go either way.
Now Matt Hancock tests positive for coronavirus: Health Secretary confirms he has killer virus TOO - just over an hour after Boris Johnson revealed he has the disease
There seems to be a move to make that policy. If a patient on a ventilator has a poor prognosis for ever recovering, it's DNR and perhaps termination.
he wont succumb to it...he will get miracle drugs , plasma therapy...everything you can imagine that might work
“Not to be too callous but at this time its statistically trivial.”
Whenever I hear people talk like this, and year after year I seem to hear it more, I think, “Ok, if that’s so, we will start with you, or your mom, or your kids.”
‘I’ve coughed until my throat bled’: Nashville woman, 21, who bragged about not taking coronavirus seriously and scoffed at social distancing now regrets it after testing positive
When the ER is on fire you have no choice. Battlefield decisions. Airway, breathing, circulation, eyes, ey, upper extremity, lower extremity. Succession of priorities as resources are available. Lastly, life. No bodys vision gets preserved until everybody is pink.
“he wont succumb to it...he will get miracle drugs , plasma therapy...everything you can imagine that might work”
That’s a part of what I’m saying, people will think they pulled out all the stops for him. If he dies, what hope do they have?
In battle its called The Black Tag.
