“Among the 67 patients who received mechanical ventilation, 44 (65.7%) died, 14 (20.9%) were discharged from the hospital, and 9 (13.4%) remained hospitalized. The median time from admission to developing ARDS was 2 days (IQR, 1-4 days). All of the patients who died had developed ARDS and received mechanical ventilation.”
So about a third of those who got intubated survived. Around 0.5% give or take 0.3%, estimating. So when the smoke clears the drugs might have saved a third of the est. 5,000 total deaths. IOW even if they work the drugs will make a difference to at best a couple thousand people. Not to be too callous but at this time it’s statistically trivial.
