As a former 8 year old beer can collector, these were some of the COOLEST cans you could find on the side of the road.

Putting the beer tab in the can is a bad idea. Today, they would be sued out of existence the first time someone swallowed one.

I remember the days of the pull tabs but I don’t remember ever putting into the beer can after opening it. Maybe I did, I just don’t remember.

First time I heard of Hamms Beer. My memory of 1970s beer was Schaefer beer. They were the official beer of the NY Mets.

A beer is a beer is a beer is a beer, until you’ve tasted Hamms.

First Hamm’s commercial I saw in color was one Christmas when we got snowed in while on the road and had to get a hotel. In the early 60s. They had the cartoon bear and penguins.

Must have been a regional ad.

I'd have remembered if it aired out West.

Did you notice that after they pulled off the pop-top, they dropped it into the can? The second time, the guy looked like he was going to just toss it away but caught himself. Subtle...

Only job I could find after getting out of the Army in ‘70 was the Hamms beer distributor in N.M. No one else wanted anything to do with returning Vets, but this one company did for which I was immensely grateful for.

Grew up in the East back in the '60s and always heard about western beers like Hamms, Coors, Olympia, et al.
When I eventually got out west, I wondered what all the hoopla was about. They tasted like carbonated water.

Thanks for that memory. Last time I had one was with a shot of Jack. Me and my buddy Gary Schenck were sitting at the bar in a Wyandotte Mich pub. Long, long time ago..about 50 years.. Those years go by quickly. Enjoy every one, youngsters.

In college we called it “Haams”. A jutting chin aided pronunciation.

Back then men just drove around with grizzly bears in the passenger seat just in case he needed to fix someone’s attitude the hard way. No better wingman in a brawl than a grizzly, I’ll tell you.
