The world forgets that the Chinese test for the CCP virus provides an average of 48% false negatives. That is one reason the CDC refused to use their test.

“Call me crazy, but I would NOT want to win elections through mass deaths from the Chinese Virus. TO even joke about it is reprehensible.”

Entire gov’t and social systems were changed in Europe after the Black Plague.

Delaying ukraine aid was impeachable offense?

What about aid to Americans right now?

Thank you for the post - I fear that as testing numbers increase, and the asymptomatic infections are discovered, the FluBros will only say that everything is fine.

They tend to cherry pick the mortality data and forget the more important ICU rates.

I know of one Walfart store mgr. who skipped out on vacation a few days ago. After he left, his asst. mgrs. told employees not to wear gloves. They said that the gloves were making customers panic. The store is in a major interstate hub with heavy traffic. The corporation also just modified policy to scare employees away from taking any time off (the usual implications with a requirement to contact the store every day of absence). Many of the employees are old, have old people at home and are underinsured or uninsured.

Yes. Makes me wonder if we’re dealing with a more deadly strain here in the US?

“Keep that stuff on the front burner right up to the election.”

The virus will stay the only relevant story through the election. All the political stuff surrounding it is just noise.

Americans will not want to switch horses mid stream. Trump will be seen as strong and decisive. People ultimately won’t blame him, they know it’s a very touch situation. Most will be glad he is there. Short of a total breakdown of the civil order, in which case who knows what will happen, Trump will win in a landslide and on his coattails the Republicans will take back the house.

Then we just have to worry about them squandering it.

And if we do manage to squash this bug, they’ll be the first to say, “See!, told ya it was just the Flu, Bro!”

“Looks like they stopped posting the number at tested! WTH...”

I saw that too. I was gonna post that number in my text. I’m sure it was just an oversight. Probably nothing nefarious or shady. I suspect an overworked individual at MDH was rushing to get the new numbers out and accidentally left it out.

OTOH, I keep wondering when Walz is gonna go for a full shut down.

You made it sound like 66 people contracted it overnight, but that is not the reality. 66 were identified overnight, period. There will be many more who test positive, while an even larger percentage will test negative. This is why these measures, recommending people stay put and only venture out for necessary reasons, is to slow further spread while testing is now being made available. The reason I believe my statement is because I believe this virus reached our shores before we even knew it had. That coupled with the obvious incompetency of the CDC to act, first to create working test kits and then getting them in mass production. Instead they parroted WHO and argued against President Trump when he canceled flights from China very early on.

So you can be sardonic if you feel the need. I guess facts are your enemy, not your friend.

If we have a place like Italy it would be New York.

It could still get bad in New York City, but I think we might be able management like South Korea manage their outbreak. I am hoping this is the case.

If Mayor Blasio want to blow it, it his to mismanage. He has the State and the Federal Government to back him up. Hopefully this is not a repeat of Katrina where the mayor screw things up. He needs leave his politics behind and work with the State and Federal offices.
