Been working all week putting in my Corona garden. It’s been great therapy.
I figured you were just in gardening overdrive for corona season....
Everybody in my Trailer Park is sprucing up their yards. It looks like a Garden Club.
I saved tea brim rea bags all winter long. I plan to mix this in with the soils I am not replacing in my pots if it would stop raining.
The squirrels wanted to double check that I planted spinach and arugula correctly. I may need yo reseed that pot.
I did not know you could grow beer :)
Did some digging in the garden yesterday. Skipped gardening last year so I’m basically flipping the sod over. Rain today and most days right now puts a damper on things. Going to let the chickens till it soon and then go get a few yards of compost to give me a head start this year. I’ll make my own after that. Got my seed order from Baker Creek yesterday. Bought a peach tree from walmart last week. Saw the, looked at the variety online, supposed to be a late variety so I went back and bought one. It’s loaded with flowers right now. So much for late variety. Maybe it came from a nursery in Canada and thinks 40 degrees is mid Spring. Never again. I’ll but from Gurney’s or something from now on. First peach tree I got from walmart flowers before the last freeze date most of the time. Had it 4-5 years and the frost has got it every year but one. I even tried tenting it with tarps, not touching the tree and stuck a space heater in there one year but the wind overpowered the heater.
Rain just wont stop here in mid-Missouri.
We have ten asperagus plants now beginning to sprout but don’t have them in the garden.
Otherwise, our tomato and pepper plants are doing very well. The sprouts are about six inches tall. Wife and I will be transplanting in a day or two...
On the bright side, we start our seeds indoors this week.
Greetings from southern New Hampshire! Had a light snow last week and a storm inbound to hit Monday evening, forecast of 3”-5” of heavy, wet snow. Figures...I just installed the pump on the front planter pond and waterfall.
I pruned the lower branches of a group of pine trees, making it easier to mow under them. All branches stacked on the flatbed to go to the dump, on Tuesday.
Making progress on clearing debris on the bog filter and planters. Planning planter contents. Thinking about some roses.
That’s where I am, Ozarks and yes, the rain is stopping me from getting all kinds of stuff done. I need to finish up my perimeter fence but the holes, half as deep as they need to be, are full of water. I’m managing to flip the sod in my garden area on occasion but that’s only 2-3 inches. Can’t work it deep. Need to pick up some compost from St Louis Compost but they don’t keep it covered and it’s so heavy now, I’d have to make 5 trips. Once it’s dry, I’ll be able to do it in two trips. Need to burn off the leaves in some places but they’re always wet.
Just got mater/pepper seeds and need to get those going for later transplanting. Onions sets need to go in now. I can cover with leaves or make plastic tunnels if it gets cold.
Good thing a dem isn’t in the White House. They would have cancelled Spring!
‘Reliance’ and ‘Contender’ are hardy peach tree varieties for Zone 4/5 where I am. They don’t live forever, but I’ve had years where I had more peaches than I knew what to do with from just two trees.
I bought a ‘Northstar’ Cherry from Walmart one year. I’ve found some real bargains there if you know what you’re looking for. Snatched it up the minute I saw it. It was a replacement for one the puppies chewed on in 2017.
Nothing has been producing reliably yet, but when they do we will have apples, plums, cherries, peaches and pears galore...which was the plan all along. ;)
This is Year Three for my ‘new’ asparagus patch - I cannot WAIT to have some this year - right out the kitchen door! The things I miss from my old farm are all of my Hydrangea, my 40’ row of established asparagus, my Brandywine Crabapple Tree and my Quaking Aspen.
I’ll get around to adding ‘everyone’ I miss out here, eventually. :)

We skip Spring from time to time in Wisconsin. The weather goes STRAIGHT to HEAT and HUMIDITY.
I hate those years. Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons. :)
It was 24 degrees here this morning. I have lots of seeds to plant, but it’s too cold!
I started spinach and swiss chard and lettuce last week and covered them for the weekend.
I’ll take the covers off probably Tues morning.
I’m soaking pea seeds right now to get them started on germination. When they are JUST beginning to sprout, they’ll go in the soil to finish growing.
They take so long to germinate in the cold soil that I figured I’d gain some time with this method.
But I cannot plant them for at least a month due to below freezing night temps. Seems I need to give them away to someone with a green house. Thank God for them all they same.
