A Scottish mother, who has a six-year old son with Downs syndrome, has slammed Amazon for selling t-shirts which read, lets make down syndrome extinct. She said: To target a group who are disabled is just disgusting.
Stacey Corrigan, aged 34 from Paisley has a six year old son with Downs syndrome named Daniel. Ms Corrigan slammed the t-shirt slogan as hateful and disgusting, asserting that it should be treated as a crime.
She said: I cant believe they have been allowed to sell this. Who even thinks up an idea to design this? Daniel is just perfect to us and we wouldnt change a thing about him.
They wouldnt be able to write homophobic slogans or racists ones. It is so hateful and should be a crime. To target a group who are disabled is just disgusting and I am horrified Amazon gave them a platform to share their hate.
The t-shirts were initially spotted by two mothers from England who filed a complaint to Amazon accusing them of promoting a hate-crime on their website.
The t-shirts have since been removed from Amazon, who have refused to comment on the situation.
In 2017, Iceland celebrated eradicating downs syndrome after it was reported almost 100% of unborn children diagnosed with Downs syndrome were killed in the womb.
Such claims were criticised by SPUC who highlighted that the chromosomal condition of Downs syndrome was not being eradicated, but rather almost 100% of the people being diagnosed with the condition were being killed. Public push back against disability abortion
Recent weeks have witnessed a public backlash against abortion following a disability diagnosis.
Over 1,800 people with Downs syndrome and their families have signed a letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, urging him to insure than abortion for disability will not be permitted in Northern Ireland.
Earlier this year, US states including Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee, urged federal appeal courts to uphold state laws which ban abortion following a diagnosis of Downs syndrome.
The kids and people that I have known that had Downs syndrome were/are the most purely innocent folks.
Is “Let’s make aids extinct” against gay people?
Seriously, this is crazy
But Jeff Mengele, the guy who owns Amazon isn’t.
Perhaps Amazon is the real deplorable.
Sorry folks, there is nothing wrong with the shirt. If it said, “Let’s make cancer extinct” nobody would claim that Amazon was advocating for a genocide against cancer patients.
Just because we don’t like Bezos politics doesn’t mean he’s automatically guilty of all things.
To me it means making down’s syndrome a thing of the past, in other words preventing it, and not through abortion. That is what I saw in it. Knowing the leftist Bezos, that is probably not what he meant.
Well,if the eradication of Aids were accomplished by dismembering people who are HIV+ or have Aids, I think there would be a legitimte objection.
But there are not countries in the world actively pushing for the death of cancer patients and even those who have shown precancerous symptoms. I certainly wouldn't wear a "Let's make cancer exticnt" shirt if the approved treatment for a polyp found during a colonoscopy was to crank up the anesthetic until the patient's heart stops.
If we could all live a life free of worry like them.
THerefore the slogn "Let's make Down Dyndrome Extinct" does mean, precisely, "Let's taregt and kill all DS babies."
and kill Downs babies."
It means nothing other than that. It does no good to deny it.
There’s no way to prevent DS except by abortion. This is true of all chromosomal disorders. You can mitigate symptoms but you can’t prevent or eliminate the condition itself.
Well,if the eradication of Aids were accomplished by dismembering people who are HIV+ or have Aids, I think there would be a legitimate objection.
About 15 years ago, the CEO of the Vermont Teddy Bear Company was on the board of the big medical center.
She had to resign because the company came out with a St. Valentine's Day Bear that had an "I'm Crazy for You!" pennant/shirt/whatever.
Activists for the mentally ill didn't appreciate the bear's expressing such an endearing sentiment.
But Downs is neither preventable or curable.
Exactly. And the only way to prevent it is by aborting Downs babies.
I believe the T-Shirt makers plan was to eliminate Downs Syndrome by finding a cure. I may be naïve but I do not believe their intent was to do a post delivery abortion on subjected people
Wrong.
