So whats the answer for a mild case? They cant take up a valuable hospital bed. Quarantine camps? Could containment specialist come in and create a negative pressure room with plastic/duct tape and a fan? My son does that about once a week in his line of work, he says its not hard
***********************************************************************************
That’s what we did when the kids got sick and my Dad was in frail health. We kept the kids in the basement apartment and family room and ran a couple of fans to pull air from upstairs down to the basement.
We always have tons of duct tape and plastic.
Dr. Campbell in the UK said on his Video that his building had a case and he was given the option to self quarantine or go into a quarantine area. He also said he really expects that he’ll get it. Not sure why.

A question on the two weeks. Is there information that COVID-19 can survive for up to two weeks on a fomite?

I am a value investor. I like to have a PE of less than 15. Low Debt to Equity. Good Cash reserves. A plus if price is below book value.
In 2007, I got some unexpected cash and went searching for a stock to buy. I could not find one single stock that met my standards. And all were frankly overpriced. So in Dec. 2007 I liquidated half of my holdings and waited.
At the end of 2008, I was buying-picked up Ford @ 3 bucks a share. Some regional bank stocks. Didn’t have time to do much, because I was stuck at the hospital with my Dad, and had to borrow a computer to do that.
Once a stock doubles in value, I often sell half-that’s the return of principle to invest in something else and let the rest ride.
The stampede is in your imagination, and your opinion of your fellow FReepers makes me wonder why you bother.
Truly I am only seeing panic from the ‘but flu’ crowd about how we are all playing into some Deep State plot to destroy Trump and America for the evil NWO. The rest of us are trying to have an adult conversation when we aren’t being drowned out by the wailing and stamping of little feet.
I’m pretty sure that stopping us from preparing for what might be coming won’t save you from the NWO machinations. You’re probably not on the ‘keep’ list for the Agenda 21 thing, anyway. JMO

Agreed. Thanks for the post.
WHAT??!!!
Somebody has to pin Fauci or Redfield down on that. A "Case Fatality Rate" is defined by the number of reported fatalities divided by the number of REPORTED (and confirmed) CASES. Almost by definition, most "asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic cases" are, as you say, UNREPORTED. Therefor, the only way to compare CFR's is if the denominators have the same definition:
Compare flu reported fatalities divided by reported cases, vs. COVID-19 reported fatalities divided by reported cases, which in both diseases does NOT include the minimally symptomatic cases;
OR, come up with a comparison of estimated infection fatality rates = flu reported fatalities divided by estimated flu infections vs. COVID-19 reported fatalities divided by estimated COVID-19 infections.
Now, CDC estimates 40 million symptomatic flu illnesses in 2018-19 (middle of range), but, wait a minute, that doesn't include the estimated 30% of asymptomatic infections. So, that means something like 57 million flu infections in 2018-19. The "high end" number for flu deaths in 2018-19 is about 61,000 fatalities. That yields that number of ~0.1%, which is not a "case" rate, it is an estimated infection fatality rate.
The experts cited put the COVID-19 infection fatality rate (misnamed by them) at between 1% and 0.1%. So it's a pretty good guess that when* COVID-19 infections catch up with flu infections, the number of hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients will on the low end equal the number of flu hospitalizations in 2018-19 (600,000), and on the high end will be 10x the number of flu hospitalizations in 2018-19. Even neglecting a slight decline in current total hospital beds from 2018-19, adding on an additional 600,000 hospitalizations this year for COVID-19 will be a severe strain on our health care facilities and providers. A 5x or God forbid 10x increase is a disaster, which will then push up fatality rates for all causes.
*But wait, it gets even more fun. If 80% of COVID-19 cases are mild or asymptomatic, it will spread faster than flu*, eventually surpassing flu infection numbers, even if COVID-19 is not, particle per particle, more infectious than last year's flu(s). This is what we are seeing begin in some other countries. (China's lockdown can NOT be replicated here.) The only way to prevent this is to test virtually EVERYONE with high accuracy tests, and isolate all positives, fairly early on.
That last is exactly why a virus with a small but significant rate of serious or critical cases, and a large % of asymptotic cases, is actually more dangerous than a virus that makes almost everyone quite ill, and kills a higher % of it's victims.

To conclude prev. post: *Short of a China style lockdown, you can’t stop what you can’t detect.
People who are not “afraid” to go to church should reconsider, as you may be endangering other people, and that is not Christian behavior.
Always ignore the newest day as it is a running totoal. It keeps adding until 0000UTC.
I absolutely agree.
I’ve already had the discussion with our Pastor, and our technical department is working on a solution for streaming. Nobody has to attend physically. Most of our congregation is old and some are definitely not healthy, so they are low hanging fruit for this disease.
And to be perfectly blunt, there is no evidence that kids don’t catch it - to the contrary, there are numerous examples of people of all ages testing positive. They just aren’t as likely to die from it. That won’t stop them from spreading it just like anybody else. More.
Lovable little disease reservoirs that they are.
I think one of the worst things about COVID-19 is that it probably isn’t seasonal which means no relief from it. I hope it subsides as we head into spring and summer, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
The Italians might be coming here via another route.
I wonder if those broadcast systems for christmas light displays might work for churches. Tune to low band FM that is limited in distance and broadcast the sermon instead of music.
Our church already does the livestreaming and stuff. We got up on Sunday in order to watch it live. (You can also watch the entire service later in the week). But it was cool to watch it live knowing that many others were too (over 800 people).
Some of it was geared towards the fear of the virus, but also knowing that God IS sovereign over all.
Hopefully this won't last as long as I think it will. But even just this week I have been thinking of how things were “B.C.” Before Corona.
My son lost one of his jobs, my daughter might be next, and if I or my wife get sick, she will lose her job taking care of elderly people. And add in the stress of decontamination procedures of the cars and us coming into the house.
Even worse when the kids visit as they don't take it seriously.
OTOH, our pastor has been reminding us to take care of our members in the church and our neighbors - during the Black Plague the Christians did this, and many people learned of God's love for them.
He's always said that the Pacific Northwest has never had a spiritual revival like the other parts of the nation has had at various times. He hasn't said it (yet) - but perhaps this is the beginning. Not that God caused this terrible virus to happen - but He can turn it to good.

I don't believe viruses can penetrate the skin, so peel off gloves and drop in trash, wash hands thoroughly and away go viruses down the drain... forever :)
The air blows upward out of the outlets. No big mystery there.
