Continuation of the thread.
I am not being sarcastic at all. As an RN, I am being realistic. I also recall being in a state of panic similar to yours following 9-11. I couldn’t tear myself away from the coverage until a family member gently encouraged me to do so. It made a life-saving difference in my ability to process the events and to regain my equilibrium and composure. We can all benefit with a break from sensory overload. Our health depends upon it.
We have a decon system for packages. They get sprayed down, outside....with disinfectant. Then, left to dry, for a while.
The mail is trickier.
In the beginning it was weird to ask friends and family to use it. But, they never thought it was a big deal since it was motivated by my illness. . Since then it’s stayed SOP. I have some alcohol bottles on standby if we run out. Just a shame hand sanitizer is impossible to get. I have an IGG of 400 since my sct and my kidneys can’t handle IVIG.
Imagine Congress critters wearing masks after telling us we dont need them. Bunker time. Or better yet, halographic projection.
Mail is like a little potentially infective leaf fall that arrives 6 days a week...
even if your letter wasn’t mailed by someone infected...it may have touched an infected letter somewhere in the bowels of the mail sorting equipment.
and who cleans the mail sorting equipment? Is that a total viral nightmare by this time yet?
Trump should have stopped his rallies six weeks ago and stop shaking hands.
Fine if he wants to use Nancy as an excuse to duck out of an event.
Probably the best thing to do is keep mail in one place and then wash hands after sorting thru it.
We usually let it sit in the mailbox and get good and hot.
Mail people were one of the vectors of the 1918 flu.
I’ve found that when I use it first, then gesture to guests, they are quite willing to follow my lead using the sanitizer. When out and about, I use my little travel bottle, then offer to squeeze a dab onto the hand of someone with me when they just touched a contaminated surface. So far, so good.

I said something like this in a thread a few days ago. What happens when it gets all over everything, and our money and mail is infected.
I was told that I am hysterical for asking that.
If it can survive on surfaces for periods of time, then it can survive on money and mail, maybe gas pumps, door handles. Who knows. China sucks.
Bannon was right—better to have the panic early and then have people calm down if things are better than the dire predictions.
I read they’re giving US money a ‘timeout’ when we ‘repatriate’ it from Asia.
Like a 14 day timeout.
I’m thinking they ‘know’ something.

Yes indeed. I’m home 95% of the time. So, I’m not dealing with others much unless they come over - and they know the SOP. I think once you’ve lived this lifestyle for years, it’s habit. It was frightening at first. Having to be cautious and therefore Feeling scared of germs. But, now it’s not fear. But a lifestyle.
I’m glad I never reacted like others are in their state of fear and panic.
