No one wants the coronavirus or the flu but its like the Surgeon General said on FNC Friday:protect your self from the flu by doing the normal things from washing you hands to taking every precatuion possible. By doing that you will protect your self from the coronal virus”.
I think hes right.

ever wonder why our flu/pneumonia season goes from 1.8/1000 in Nov to 1.9 in December to 48.1 in Jan to now 57.9/1000 for Feb? Could it be travelers? It’s a mistake to look at the USA as being in a vacuum.

“the CDC has estimated (based on weekly influenza surveillance data) that at least 12,000 people have died from influenza between Oct. 1, 2019 through Feb. 1, 2020, and the number of deaths may be as high as 30,000.”

cdc website:
“Key indicators that track flu activity remain high but decreased for the third week in a row. Severity indicators (hospitalizations and deaths) remain moderate to low overall, but hospitalization rates differ by age group, with high rates among children and young adults.”

The overall cumulative hospitalization rate for the season increased to 57.9/1000

The percentage of deaths attributed to pneumonia and influenza increased to 6.9%

11 influenza-related pediatric deaths were reported this week for a total of 136 pediatric deaths

All this time I thought you were XY. Not by anything you have posted. Weird word/mind association.

Black Agnes-think steak or beef-think man.

Then anges-for some reason-Gus- had an old boss named Gus.

Anyway, I guess my visual was waaaaaay off. (:

Or maybe my brain is just wired very strange.

People think I am a guy all the time too. Many times other posters have wanted to fight me. "OK pal...". Funny.

“What about parts for your car like brake pads or windshield wipers?”

I did get brakes, and belts, but I keep forgetting about the blades. Guess that’s today’s project!

What’s really going to get people’s attention will be the back-end of this virus, as China gets back to work. They’ll have to first concentrate on priority items, and spare auto parts for US customers won’t be all that high on the list - so it may be a few years until they get around to them.

It’s probably airborne.

When our expats in Wuhan were evacuated, the ‘flight attendants’ were wearing full level 4 biohazard suits (think dustin hoffman’s suit in Outbreak).

Medical people are being infected while wearing full bunnysuit getups which for practical purposes are only level 3 getups.

Thought I was done. Nope, need drain cleaner. Poured some baking soda, salt and the juice from a jar of too old opened peppers down it so will see what happens.

The juice off of peppers and pickles is mainly vinegar so don’t throw it out. Use it in the drain or add a cup to the crock pot when making a pork roast.

LOL.

You’re not the first.

People think ‘black angus’ as in steak.

Nope.

My guess, and it's only a guess,is if the corona is similar to the common flu,it will wane by summer. If it does the problem will be more or less self solving. Bringing our lives back to normal should not be that much of a shift.

We all go through flu season every year. Last year thousands died, probably more than will die from corona. But, there was little if any mention of it and we all went on about business as usual.

Why not do the same thing here especially should the covid 19 dissapates in a few months which it is likely to do?

if you listen to Chinese propaganda, 90% of their factories are up and running and they are producing tens of millions of masks per week. But they’re only going to export to their Asian ‘friends’. (as China tries to firm up an axis of power)

I think China will be slow to return to production of meds for the US.

For spite mainly.

And because now they can.

I’m just as concerned that China devolves into some sort of political morass though after. And producing meds for export becomes an afterthought.

How do you propose fixing the supply chains?

Especially those for medicine?

That issue won’t go away with warmer temperatures.

BTW, Singapore has cases as does Brazil and other ‘warm’ countries.

While the virus might not live (as long) outside, it loves air conditioning conditions (temps in the lower 70’s and low humidity).

I know the claim but there is a lot of contradictory evidence to that, so I’ll start to believe things are getting to normal when they start lifting their lockdowns...not before.

in the US it seems that they are only wearing face masks (see Kirkland nursing home), many people are pointing this out on twitter and one local health department responded that is what the CDC is saying that is all they need

then we have 2 screeners at LAX get it.. I assume wearing PPE (face masks)

https://time.com/5610878/2018-2019-flu-season/

Even still, high early-season vaccination rates and a relatively effective annual vaccine appeared to help suppress illnesses.

In total, the CDC estimates that up to 42.9 million people got sick during the 2018-2019 flu season, 647,000 people were hospitalized and 61,200 died.

That’s fairly on par with a typical season, and well below the CDC’s 2017-2018 estimates of 48.8 million illnesses, 959,000 hospitalizations and 79,400 deaths.

..........................

Once again over 60k died from the flu in the 2018-2019 flu season.!!

This is normal!!

People don't stop traveling, close their businesses, stop doing business, raid the stores, or anything of the sort!!They go about their business as we should be doing.!!

The CDC is going to kill a lot of health care workers, and get a lot more very very sick, before this is over.

Their guidance is horrid.

“How do you propose fixing the supply chains? Especially those for medicine?”

I can help a bit. Declare meds to be of Strategic Importance to this country and severely limit imports - then Deregulate production as much as possible...even if it results in a slightly elevated risk of hang-nails in half-toed salamanders. Do it by Executive Order and DARE the Left and the courts to stop you.

Needless to say, also keep the unions out, regardless of what it takes.
