No matter how this turns out I think our Pres. will be politically vulnerable.

I don't agree at all. My very liberal sister said for the first time after seeing our President conducting the virus presser..she doesn't hate him. She thought he did very well. EVEN the Democrat Governors are listening to him and following through.

Every year people spend lots of money on Tamiflu even though they had the flu shot. This year we had a heads up with no assurance a shot was going to protect one from a flu. NO LIES as in ALL the years before. I was SICK of people preaching about how great the flu shot was. I even wore a sign one year saying pretty much...shut up and mind your own business....lol It never failed they got colds and sore arms that same week of getting the shot. WE HAD A HEADS UP with no lies about a wonder flu shot.

so glad both the president and Secy state Pomp. put them in their place. Just my idea that if any of them LIE, misrepresent or anything else nasty in their reporting as to the truth following any press conferences/briefings , they are immediately removed from press briefings. And a network time out for w week and then they can send another idiot to fill the seat.

outstanding idea. At least do not let that person back.

*** she doesn't know if she has the virus because she has not been able to get tested. ***

It doesn't matter. At this point, it's like the flu, you treat the symptoms.

Instead of the mortality rate, we should look at the survival rates.

Italy (47021-4032)/47021= 91%
Rest are 96%

The mortality has been due to underlying factors like age (over 65years), smoking (male vs females and weaker lungs), health conditions like diabetes, BP, CHD.

So cheer up. No need for a morose outlook.

I think that shutting down our country based at all on what is going on in Italy is misguided. Italy has unique situations which probably make it an outlier in the statistics of all countries. Italy has the second oldest population in the world. Italy has hundreds of thousands of Chinese nationals working in factories in and around Naples. At the same time that this virus was spreading exponentially in Wuhan, the Milan area was holding its annual fashion week. Chinese New Year was during the last week of January. Both fashion week and Chinese New Year involved a lot of travel back and forth with China.

In addition to the above very unusual circumstances, Italians are very affectionate people, living with close physical contact among family members, and keeping their elderly home as they age.

280k filed for unemployment for the week of 03/14/2020

as that number grows, and it will, who is going to pay for their medical care for things other than the virus? They won’t have insurance. maybe could be covered under medicaid but probably not. Maybe Obamacare, probably not.

We already have 2 trillion (and more to come) in help and bailouts for things other than the virus.

The answer to this whole thing is to let the governments deal with it.
If it don’t get much better in 7 months...

plays into Biden’s hands...

My area is full of Chinese immigrants, and the majority visit native land during the Chinese new year. They brings disease also.

Walked to Walgreens. I pass by one bar and Walgreens is across the street from another in a strip mall. Both parking lots packed side streets too. Bars close tonight so everyone is partying.
Hope they all get safe rides home. We had one guy charged with vehicular murder under the influence last week.

I DO have he tincture, and most times it helps very well.
But last night, it came roaring right through it, and it
took a long time to get it back under control.

I HAD to resort to the heavier meds.
The tincture DOES help to make it at
least bearable most days, and I hope
others with chronic pain will try it!

Thanks for your sweet post!
Love and hugs from the forests of Maine!

The ones I have been to, in Tennessee and North Carolina, usually have some employee go out with a pad and paper and take the orders when They become very busy. I think the way things are now I’d rather speak into a metal box.

I used to have a friend named Darryl. Most of the time when he met someone he’d be asked where his other brother is.

https://durangoherald.com/amp/318877-telluride-couple-paying-for-their-entire-countys-coronavirus-tests

More details on San Miguel County, Colorado from the article:

***

“But two part-time Telluride residents have stepped in to try to solve the testing problem. They’re paying for everyone in the town of about 2,500 – whether they are symptomatic or not – and county to be screened twice in the coming two weeks for coronavirus using a new blood test that’s received preliminary OK from the Food and Drug Administration.

The test was created by their own company, a subsidiary of United Biomedical Inc., and some 15,000 kits will be provided – representing about double San Miguel County’s population. Testing will be done in the town first and then expanded into the county.

“Data is power,” said Mei Mei Hu, who along with her husband, Lou Reese, is making the testing possible.

They spoke to The Colorado Sun on Thursday morning as they were preparing their plane to ship an initial phase of samples – taken from emergency first responders and their family members – to a lab in California to be tested. Results are expected back in a few days – and then once everyone in the town and county is tested a first time, they will then be tested again.

There’s a hope that the data collected can be used far beyond San Miguel County and the one-road-in-one-road-out box canyon that holds Telluride. Hu and Reese believe their endeavor will mark the first time everyone in a U.S. county is tested for the virus. (Participation is voluntary.)

“This will be one of the first times where we screen a whole population,” Hu said. “What you do by testing en masse is you say, ‘What is active outbreak prevalence?’ If you’re positive on antibodies, that means you’ve been exposed to it at some time. If you test again in 14 days and you see that everyone is in the same state, it means that you didn’t have any new infections and you can then begin releasing people.”

Perhaps most significantly: The testing may be able to show how many people in Telluride and San Miguel County are infected with coronavirus but aren’t aware of it. In most cases, the disease results in only mild symptoms. Some people show no symptoms at all.

“In the event that there’s a lot, then I think it really informs the public,” Reese said.

Hu and Reese point to a similar mass testing completed in a town that was at the center of Italy’s outbreak. The experiment in Vo allowed authorities in the town near Venice to completely stop the spread of the illness by taking targeted social-distancing measures and ensuring infected people were isolated.
