A place to consolidate CoronaVirus Stories
Two paragraphs from that post....they seem to contradict...
Why Is 70% the Most Effective Concentration of Isopropyl Alcohol for Disinfection?
Isopropyl alcohol, particularly in solutions between 60% and 90% alcohol with 10 40% purified water, is rapidly antimicrobial against bacteria, fungi, and viruses. Once alcohol concentrations drop below 50%, usefulness for disinfection drops sharply. Notably, higher concentrations of alcohol dont generate more desirable bactericidal, virucidal, or fungicidal properties.
Technically, all grades of rubbing alcohol containing 68% -72% isopropyl alcohol fall under the rubbing alcohol namesake for household use. Isopropyl alcohol concentrations >91% volume fail to provide bactericidal efficiency and are less effective for antiseptic use, thus its distinction as rubbing alcohol is not warranted and may cause confusion.
two-week latency
sure I know this. Every FReeper knows this.
We can’t diagnose a 2-week latency just by looking at someone. It’s impossible.
Just like we can’t tell a TB carrier, or a Zika carrier or a HIV carrier. The best we can do - ALL we can do - is take their temp at various checkpoints, watch for signs of illness, and isolate those showing signs of illness on their flights, just as customs does once people land.
Are some latent going to get thru? Probably. Will they be spreaders? depends on their level of morality and social responsibility. Some people are assholes. Most people aren’t. I will say anecdotally that I’ve watched a whole lot more youtube videos of returnees willing and happy to self-quarantine and limit their contacts over those who don’t care.
A 90 yr old is the newest Washington death....RIP
Theyll have 300,000-400,000 tests by the end of the week. Pence DID get ahead of it. The very next day that he took over the testing issues started working out. 2 days after he stepped in 3100 tests were available, manufacturing was moved out of the CDC and and investigation was initiated by the White House. Now 100,000 tests are available And more coming. Georgia health said they are allowed to test for any reason a doctor deems necessary.
So, not saying I dont believe the nurse, but I also know the liberals would like nothing better than to make EVERYTHING sound like Trumps fault. Many of us suspect the CDC dropped the ball on purpose to make it look like Trumps Katrina.
What is hurting him the most right now, is his messaging. I think he doing a lot of the right things, but he is saying the absolute wrong things. The middle of a crisis is never a good time to pat yourself on the back. Not while people are on vents and dying. Its a bad look.

DENVER (KKTV) - Gov. Jared Polis announced Thursday afternoon that he learned of the first “presumptive” positive case of COVID-19, coronavirus, case in Colorado.
During a news conference, the governor announced he had learned of a second presumptive case, not tied to the first.
According to a release sent out by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the case is tied to an out-of-state visitor in his thirties. He was visiting Summit County and is now in isolation in the Denver metro area.

LOL!
Millenials that never learned the difference between “per cent” and proof”...
Also in WA, a student at everett community college tested positive. Possible case at Boeing. And a an employee at Century Link field who worked the last Seattle Dragons game tested positive. Pretty soon it’ll just be numbers and we won’t bother with the who or where.
CDC is perfectly capable of screwing things in a monumental fashion without it being intentional..of course..it could have been intentional.

This is a feature, not a bug. The elites want us dead.
The wife is flying in from southeast Asia Saturday. She’s been in Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta, flying back through Tokyo & Chicago to DC.
She was at a hotel in KL that has a confirmed case, but no direct contact. Our priority is simply, get home, monitor, and stay home. Doc says can’t get any test kits unless she shows symptoms. We’ll see what they do at customs.
I’ve already told the neighbors who are awesome about it, have stocked up on meds/ cleaning materials, and just looking forward to having the girl home. We’re both in our 50s and generally healthy. I have slight asthma, but I don’t take steroids, which can degrade immune system. She gets sick all the time from traveling so much, which I generally avoid. Am planning on getting exercise without interacting with others, basically, hitting the tennis court that’s around the corner w/ my ball machine and walking the dogs.
Having lunch tomorrow with my 80+yo parents before the wife gets back, as we will not be visiting them until this thing passes. My only worry with the ‘rents is that my 83yo father insists on taking the metro downtown to the courthouse every few days for his work, which he won’t stop. Mom’s a birder, so out a lot with no risk and very healthy.
So we’ll see!
Btw, this document is actually sensible and consistent with what our doctors have told us (NPR):

I hope she gets home safe. Weve heard very little from Indonesia. It would be interesting to hear her impressions.
