The wife is flying in from southeast Asia Saturday. She’s been in Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta, flying back through Tokyo & Chicago to DC.
She was at a hotel in KL that has a confirmed case, but no direct contact. Our priority is simply, get home, monitor, and stay home. Doc says can’t get any test kits unless she shows symptoms. We’ll see what they do at customs.
I’ve already told the neighbors who are awesome about it, have stocked up on meds/ cleaning materials, and just looking forward to having the girl home. We’re both in our 50s and generally healthy. I have slight asthma, but I don’t take steroids, which can degrade immune system. She gets sick all the time from traveling so much, which I generally avoid. Am planning on getting exercise without interacting with others, basically, hitting the tennis court that’s around the corner w/ my ball machine and walking the dogs.
Having lunch tomorrow with my 80+yo parents before the wife gets back, as we will not be visiting them until this thing passes. My only worry with the ‘rents is that my 83yo father insists on taking the metro downtown to the courthouse every few days for his work, which he won’t stop. Mom’s a birder, so out a lot with no risk and very healthy.
So we’ll see!
Btw, this document is actually sensible and consistent with what our doctors have told us (NPR):

I hope she gets home safe. Weve heard very little from Indonesia. It would be interesting to hear her impressions.
