Such is the case for Harvey Weinstein, one of the richest men in Hollywood who, although he was found guilty of rape in the 3rd degree and criminal sexual assault in the 1st degree, has yet to arrive at prison on Rikers Island where he was ordered by a judge, instead taking a respite at Bellevue Hospital.
Weinstein was apparently admitted to Bellevue because of high blood pressure, which is funny because that’s what writing this story about Weinstein has given me. However, unlike Weinstein, I am not trying to evade prison and as such do not need to spend time in a hospital.
Video footage obtained by PIX 11 shows that Weinstein has really been struggling in Bellevue, first sitting in a comfy leather armchair watching TV, and then walking around the facility unencumbered, not cuffed as he was when he was escorted out of the courtroom following his sentencing.
According to a source that talked to PIX11, he’s been walking around with the aid of a wheelchair in place of the iconic probably-prop walker he used throughout his trial and then left behind when he was found guilty. The source also said he’s receiving 24/7 protection from the Department of Correction Emergency Service Unit, even though he is the convicted criminal in this situation. Under any other circumstances, you might think it would make sense for the ESU to be protecting the other patients in the hospital, but given that Weinstein is a rich man, he’s the one that gets the protection, okay!
If you were to assume that this was all an elaborate hoax in order to further stave off his impending time in prison, you’d probably be right.

I really haven’t followed the Weinstein story at all. Other than having a bsic idea he was into sleazy casting couch type things. So, I’m not familiar with the details of what he went on trial for - did he actually ever rape someone or what?

His sentencing is a few days away march 11th I think. Post Epstein they are probably ok with him going directly to an upstate prison.
For some reason an old Cheech and Chong comedy skit popped into my mind with this one phrase.
“Bailiff; whack his pee pee”. It was about an old man in court for liking young women sexually. I mean, if old guys are being honest with themselves, don’t most old guy like that young stuff even if it’s unattainable?
Now pedophiles are another story altogether.

That’s the whole point of prison. You’re not supposed to want to go there.
It’s NYC, he was rape enabler Hillarys biggest fundraiser, don’t be surprised if he’s exonerated and released from his appeal.

I might be in that crowd if you mean someone made a casting couch deal where they did the horizontal pretzel to get a promised benefit. I’d consider that a business deal - though not an altogether moral one - but it’s part of the “Oldest profession”, after all.
Sleazy, but I’m not sure how it can be “rape” if a person makes it into a business deal. There’s no doubt the guy is creepy and disgusting, but if they started sentencing people to prison for that the jails would be jam-packed with people serving time for just being icky human beings.
My wife has to use a walker to get around inside of the house (outside she is in a wheelchair). She saw footage of Harvey using his walker and said that he was walking so well and so fast that he could probably get along without it. The walker was more like a prop.
The jury appears to have gotten the verdicts about right, there were cases where this pig actually assaulted an unwilling victim. It appears that many of his most vocal accusers are actually charging him with meretricious practices, in which they were willing, if resentful, beneficiaries. These were the cases where the jury refused to convict.

Some names on the list of Weinstein Co. creditors are not unexpected, given the company’s business dealings over the years: Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, Dame Judi Dench. But some of the thousands of names on the 394-page list of people owed money by the bankrupt company jump off the page, among them David Bowie, Michael Bay, Malia Obama, Boris Becker, Ryan Coogler, Daniel Radcliffe, Robert De Niro and Darlene Love.
Other creditors are less boldfaced but still eye-catching, including the film and television academies, the New York Fire Department and the Los Angeles Police Department. One of Harvey Weinstein’s accusers, the model-turned-actress Zoe Brock, is listed, as is YouTuber Casey Niestat. Many former employees appear, with their address noted as the Weinstein Co.’s main office, 99 Hudson St. (Obama worked at the company as an intern last year, to the surprise of some given the prevalence of reports about Weinstein’s behavior, though very few grasped the full extent of it.) Numerous companies are there, from Amazon Studios to Netflix, ABC, CBS and NBC, as are many film exhibitors. There is a wide range of donations he made to charities, including the American Cancer Society, the American Fund for AIDS Research and Autism Speaks.
Much of the list is taken up by businesses who make up the day-to-day mechanics of entertainment–scores of florists, trailer houses, publicists and party venues, plus critics groups, film festivals and trade organizations. An Office Depot in Cincinnati. An exterminator in Brooklyn.
The Weinstein Co. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last night, with a 363 process minimizing the number of bidders. Lantern Asset Management has already come forward with a bid of $310 million in cash, plus $125 million in assumed liabilities and $15 million in fees for current projects. The 363 process will be unfolding over the next few weeks in a Delaware bankruptcy court.
