Honest, I am not trying to be a jerk. I had a daughter caught in Haiti after the earthquake. She learned some tough lessons about living in a world with scared and panicked people. She learned the the US government, as great as we are, cannot do much in a Choi’s filled world. So I am not coming at you like a crazed nut.

What I mean is if he is there when the close the border (and they will) he is not getting out. And he will be a foreigner in a foreign land. That is not a good place to be.

My heart goes out to you. Life is more important to a job. Just ask him if he has a plan. Get him thinking about the “what if’s”.

Yes. I have done it in the oven, but it can be messy. My wife doesn’t like that.

Fortunately he works for an airline. So, he’ll have a ride back to the US. His employer would know about the plans to shut down travel and send him home.

He was handing some of his masks to our soldiers on base. They didn’t have any. That’s sad.

I was made to feel like a complete idiot today by a family member over this. A couple weeks ago I suggested he stock up for a month, he blew that off. It wasn’t preachy, just a comment in passing.

Today I texted a link to the CDC briefing to all my family, with no comment other than FYI. I got the most condescending text from him and then a voicemail absolutely berating me. He said he has 10 sources I’d news on his phone and he is more on top of it than I am, and the CDC said this and that and flu is worse.

The sad thing is, I was actually wanting to initiate a conversation with my siblings because my husband and I decided we wanted to give each of our siblings enough money to buy a month’s worth of food. I think I’ll use what I would have given him for my neighbors.

You posted...

“Not to the reality of the coronavirus outcome”

....
I asked what this outcome that you’re posting about really is?

So what are you suggesting this outcome will be?

“I think a lot of the people who do not prepare live paycheck to paycheck “

I think that’s a good point.
If they invest in a month’s food supply (about $200/person) they’ll see a 20% return on their investment FOREVER, ot until a disaster strikes. When it could save them from death or extreme discomfort. Providing peace of mind.

What other investment could a poor person make that would provide them a sure 20% return on their money?

Considering he works for an airline with a military contract (why he’s there), I’m hoping that he will be able to get out and home.

“Prepping prevents panic!”

Speak for yourself. I’m now fully prepped for 3 months, yet I still plan to panic when the time is right, just for fun.

But... saving money!
I always emphasize the saving. Peace of mind is just gravy.

Ya, I feel your pain with the sibling thing.

I prep for us and for immediate neighbors who can’t prep for financial or personal reasons or simply won’t.

It isn’t fair really to prep for the latter ones too...but it beats having a hostile neighbor sending their starving kiddos to knock on your door to see if you have anything to eat.

I also save a LOT of seeds from things I know grow here. If anything REALLY bad did happen (lucifer’s hammer) we could at least grow stuff and not starve.

Sounds good!

I’ve been dehydrating veggies, for a couple of days.

Listening to Bannon’s Warroom podcast, right now.

His guest says (will try to confirm name of guest, asap).....time for potus to go on offense.

He’s done what can be done, so far, and now needs to stand up against Pelosi/Schumer blame.

Trump needs to hold meeting w/heads of drug cos
Needs to assure Americans whatever the cost....we will address/fix this.
And, this was a prevention effort start w/us....what was chinese problem, now being corrected by us.

We’re under attack, by leftists. Trump is now a wartime president.

Not even terrorism...biological mutation.

CDC saying travel restrictions...Italy...it’s all the world’s problem.

And...a LOT more GREAT ideas.

If it doesn’t become epidemic, people won’t clamber for vaccines. Check who has what investments where...would likely be very very enlightening.

The markets can’t predict the epidemiologic outcome of the coronavirus, they can only respond to economic decisions made by people.

Right about what?

The market prices in what it sees.

Right now it’s seeing supply chains shut down.

It’s not ‘panic’ or ‘hysteria’ or ‘a rumor’, the supply chains ARE shut down.

Major companies are either lowering guidance or simply taking guidance off the table altogether.

Do you think investors, either institutional or public should ignore companies telling them things are going to suck with this quarter’s earnings?
