Coronavirus Live Thread. Live Thread 1
2/23/2020

Posted on 02/23/2020 1:57:16 PM PST by Vermont Lt

Figured we would start numbering the threads.

Some points to keep in mind:

1. This thing is not “just the flu.” 2. 1/10th of the worlds population is in some sort of lockdown. 3. Generally, we don’t buy the Chinese numbers But if anything they are low. 4. Everyone is welcome to post, but don’t bore us with your “you are panicking” posts. They are tedious.

It’s Sunday night and the Walking Dead is back. Let’s talk Coronavirus.

Canada confirms 11th case of coronavirus

Canada has confirmed its 11th case of coronavirus, according to health officials.

In a joint statement, Health Minister Adrian Dix and Dr. Bonnie Henry, health officer for British Columbia, said the affected person, a male in his 40s, was in close contact with a previously reported confirmed case.

“Both cases remain in isolation at home with support and monitoring from public health teams,” the statement said.

“Given the changing dynamics of the outbreak in China and globally, and recognizing we are in the midst of influenza season, we ask all travelers who are returning to B.C. — no matter where they were in the world — to monitor themselves and their children closely for symptoms,” the joint statement said. Adding, “the risk of spread of this virus within British Columbia continues to remain low at this time.”

In total, Canada has 11 total cases of confirmed coronavirus; four in Ontario and seven in British Columbia.

Iran, no clue how many.

Iran’s deputy health minister has denied a claim of a cover-up over the new coronavirus disease, as the number of confirmed deaths there rose to 12.

...

However, Mr Amirabadi-Farahani refused to retract his claim.

“I have given the names of 40 dead people to the deputy minister. Now, we await his resignation,” he was quoted as saying by the Ilna news agency.

Called potato flakes. Usually comes in a big cereal type box. Do not get the “butter” flavored as the butter is nasty. The plain flakes are ok enough as mashed potatoes with your butter/margarine, made into potato salad and potato soup. Next to them, you’ll find dehydrated scalloped potatoes in various flavors which are good. FYI, you can use water to re-hydrate all of these instead of milk per the instructions.

Located at my Walmart on the bean and rice aisle. At my grocery store, they’re on the condiment aisle. Another place you might find them are by the noodles.

"No foundries= no parts for car engines or Caterpillar tractors and such"

That applies to new parts, which in turn affects new car or tractor production. Fortunately for vehicle owners, there may be used parts available in junk yards if repairs are necessary. No question there's an economic impact, but clever people will find a lot of work arounds. I remember talking to my mother once about how they managed in Europe during WWII. She said that many of the skills we associate with that time had dropped off for a while, but people re-learned them mighty fast when the need arose.

I think this headline is to be expected. Looking at the calendar, it’s about 28 days since the first major ICU rush. If you read the Lancet article I posted earlier, we can expect that 60% mortality rate to start expressing itself. (see also post 464).

Also from the video, Wuhan tried to lift the quarantine for non-residents, and had to backtrack a few hours later when CCP said no

If only Toyota would sell their cheap small pickup with no frills in the US. There wasn’t much under the hood.

Just bought a Whirlpool washing machine a few days ago. It has a Made in USA sticker on it but we laughed at it. Just because it has a sticker doesn’t mean the parts aren’t from Mars.

We can’t get fresh cauliflower at HEB here. But I did buy a big brown paper bag of old bananas this morning for $1. The mushy ones went into the freezer for banana bread. The better ones are in the dehydrator. The good ones can be eaten quickly. Yes, carbs but right now the focus is on dehydrating for shtf.

I thought I had plenty of wide mouth canning rings but need some on the next outing. Bought canning salt last month so should be good to go if needed.

**** Y’all, don’t forget to freeze your flours, grains, dried beans and rice a few days to kill the bugs and store them in good solid containers if you don’t go the mylar way. However, in times of need, bugs are just considered protein.

The Chinese have now officially admitted this disease was designed.

Is there an article or something that shows this? I tried to google but couldn't find anything.

So, the CDC wants us to believe we’re still at that same ol’ #14. Never mind only 3-4 states are testing.

Down that page shows CA protesting “No Coronavirus in Our City”, hahahahaha! But they roll the welcome mat out for every other disease especially if it’s attached to killers and rapists.
