More than 2,000 people are marooned at sea after four countries denied entry to a cruise ship over coronavirus fears - despite the crew's insistence that there are no virus cases on board.

Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines and the US territory of Guam have all denied permission for the MS Westerdam to dock.

Japanese leader Shinzo Abe yesterday said his country would not allow foreign passengers to disembark, saying there were suspected virus patients on board.

However, cruise operator Holland America said last night that 'the ship is not in quarantine and there are no known cases of coronavirus on board'.

If they get off in Guam it might tip over!

‘The Ratings Game’ was better....LOL!

Sending Nielson families on an unending cruise in order to take over their homes and shape TV ratings...

Really folks? This disease is not Ebola. This virus is not as deadly as the flu. Get a grip!

Asians seem to wears mask all the time in China. I read something that in Wuhan, while modern, they live very unhygienic lives. Spitting and coughing, lack of showering, brushing teeth, just basic things we take for granted. Also, heavy reliance on mass transit (think vectors). I really do think that Animal Market kicked it off such that it took that place by storm. My prayers are that we see it begin to slow, hoping, hoping ...

‘Voyage of the Damned’ was good as well... just really tragic and shameful that the US did not accept the passengers.

Not cases of the flu - they let 800 new passengers on the ship from an infected area.

Nobody on the Holland-America ship has tested positive at this point. But the JApanses are concerned about the passengers from an infected area

I bet they end up at the US Navy base in either Okinawa or Guam (Regardless of what the locals there want.

My wife and I at one time enjoyed cruising throughout the Caribbean and Gulf. We’ve got 23 sailings between us.

The last two cruises we both got sick onboard and immediately thereafter. Nasty, upper respiratory viruses that hung on for weeks. We decided after our last one we were done. As others have said, the damn things are a petri dish.

It might be a good time to dry dock these ships until this passes.

it would be nice if a silver bullet was found. Although, I bet Gilead’s drug is very expensive and would be difficult to mass produce. Been watching the stock trade and it hasn’t done much over the last few days.

I know. You look at the figures being released, but then; flight attendants on an evacuation flight wearing ‘moon suits’. A city of 11,000,000 quarantined. Something is going on here that we aren’t being told. Don’t know what it is, but people, not just in China, but around the world, are taking extreme measures against this above and beyond what you’d expect from something “not as deadly as the flu”.

Thanks. Seems like a healthy bunch on Sky Princess. We’ve made a wrong turn into Medical Office a few times and the waiting area was empty. A good sign. Still, it’ll be good to get on terra firma again.

Better a cruise ship than one of those Chinese quarantine centers!

I think it is remdesivir.

but check this out

I dont know how drug patents work...but China seems to be looking to rip off Gilead.

I agree. Definitely on the order of a bio weapon or program gone astray.
