At Diet Doctor, we are very clear about defining low-carb. We define ketogenic low carb diets as less than 20 grams of net carbs per day, moderate low carb as 20-50 grams per day, and liberal low carb as 50-100 grams per day. Assuming a 2,000 kcal diet, that equates to <4%, <10% and <20% of total calories.

The latest nutritional epidemiology study out of Harvard, published this week in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, is another misrepresentation of low-carb diets.
-snip-
The lowest of the low-carb eaters still sourced 46% of their calories from carbohydrates. That was the lowest! That is more than twice the amount of our highest level, the liberal low-carb diet, defined as less than 20% carbs. That is really all we need to know about the study. It is painfully clear that any of the conclusions have nothing to do with a low-carb diet.

Harvard is one of the worst...The reality is that Doctors and nutritionist today have led to 70% overweight population and skyrocketing diabetes. That’s 70%. The media doesn’t report this and instead, just parrots what the so called “experts” say.
People who point out the medical community duplicity, and advocates are tarred as flat earthers, climate deniers, or anti vaxxers. Keto is described as a “fad”.
Heart disease, most cancers, type 2 diabetes for starters. Check out How not to Die by Dr Michael Gregor.
The low carb diet I was on before involved a max of 10 grams of carb per day for 7 weeks then increased slowly to 50 grams.
Dr. David Katz at Harvard is a pimp for obesity and diabetes.
JAMA smacks the carb pimps and it leaves a burn:

The lying has been going on for far to long.
What about all the people who were Type-2 diabetic, backed way off on the carbs, lost a great deal of weight, and were no longer diabetic?
Anyone who is descended from a population that had to learn to survive “winter” is descended from people who survived by eating saturated fat every chance they got.
You cite quacks.
LOL Nope - Keto is amazing and any study without any “interest” behind it shows that is great for you. The only way you can screw up keto is to not eat enough veggies (just stay away from starches). I usually end up eating way more vegetables on the Keto diet than I do when I’m not on keto. Just add butter or olive oil!
avoid the chinese food diet plan...
That's basically what a "low-carb" diet is for me. I stick to whole foods and keep net carbs to around 50g or less per day.
My meats are mostly grass-fed, pasture-raised. Not what you find on a supermarket shelf. I purchase a share of meats that come from local farms (about 30 pounds a month for my wife and I) and it's all grass-fed, pasture-raised, air-chilled, etc. Fish is typically ocean caught.
Typical day will go like this:'
Breakfast: Siggi's whole milk yogurt with berries swirled in. Two extra-large eggs fried in Kerrygold butter.
Lunch: Can of King Oscar sardines packed in olive oil with a couple ounces of raw nuts - i.e. almonds, cashews, pepitas.
Dinner: 8 oz of meat, poultry or fish. Broccoli or brussels sprouts. Kale salad with olive oil, sunflower seeds and half an avocado mixed in.
Snack might be more raw nuts or an ounce of dark chocolate (90% or higher cacao).
So very healthy diet for me.
My A1C after 7 months on Keto is DOWN from 106 (pre-diabetic) to 96.
Leaky gut syndrome. Oh wait, you get that from lectins in plants.
40% protein is way too high - that’s 200g of protein a day. A normal person needs about about half their body weight or less for protein grams or 60 to 100g a day for 150-200 lb person, or 12-25%. The other calories need to be carbs or fat.
Interesting article...shows the little Nazis in the nutrition “industry”...
“Dr. David Katz at Harvard is a pimp for obesity and diabetes.”
Thanks, I didn’t realize that Katz is a Harvard man...that explains their activism on this topic.
Bingo - and look how fat America has become since the food pyramid was put in place.
Ive lost 8 pounds in less than two weeks. Stopped eating bread, pasta,French fries, anything with wheat in it, potato chips,no sugar soda. No crackers and cut way back on any sugar. I put heavy cream in my morning coffee instead of sugar.
What Ive been eating:
Hamburger meat, lettuce wedge with blue cheese dressing.
Hot dogs sauerkraut.
Steak & broccoli.
Bacon or sausage with eggs.
Lunch meat, pickles, cheese. Still eat oranges, apples which have some sugar. Fresh Raspberry & blueberrys with heavy cream.
Cottage cheese with fresh berries.
Low carb Yogurt with fresh berries.
When I went low carb fifteen years ago I lost a lot of weight right away in the first month, but then it slowed down. I started at 225 then Lost 25 pound. Got down to 200. Didnt get below 200. Kept it off for a few years until I started eating bread & pasta again. I think wheat is the cause of gaining weight.
I was at 230. Im at 220 now. Hope to get below 200. Be great if I got down to 180-190
Too high according to you. What is a normal person?
“Only a plant-based, whole food diet, can prevent and reverse most chronic disease.”
Utter drivel. You embarrass yourself. There are far too many people LIVING the opposite. All theory must be tested against what happens in the real world, and frankly, YOUR theory has been disproved millions of times now.
