The 3M masks I just bought locally are made in the USA with materials sourced globally. From China no doubt. Lol. Also have some coming Monday that were probably made in China or Taiwan.

10 new cases of novel coronavirus confirmed in Beijing

Ten new cases of novel coronavirus were confirmed in Beijing on Saturday, according to local health authorities. This brings the number of confirmed cases to 51 in the Chinese capital.

Beijing's Municipal Health Commission said in a statement on Sunday that three of the patients are medical staff, two of which had a travel history to Wuhan. The third contracted the disease after sitting with one of the infected doctors during a meeting. (Cover: AP Photo)

Beijing announces 20 designated hospitals to treat coronavirus patients

Beijing Municipal Health Commission on Sunday announced 20 designated hospitals to treat coronavirus patients

These 20 hospitals are in charge of the medical treatment for patients infected in the outbreak of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus.

Beijing Ditan Hospital and Beijing Youan Hospital, which were the major hospitals treating SARS patients in 2003, are among the 20 hospitals.

if this is so trivial, why is Beijing designating 20 hospitals to deal with this?

How far are they from Wuhan?

I think you’re on to something there.

"I am not a statistical type of gal. Dont even know why I took it in college. But it seems to me that the rate has been skewed by the fact that they gathered 10k people together to eat to break a world record after cases had been diagnosed. I dont have a link. everything i look at that talks about it is behind a paywall

We are gathering larger crowds that that in hundreds of places all over the country for college basketball games today. They are eating hot dogs and drinking beers that get handed down the rows to them. They then pass their cash back along the row. There are countless examples of group gatherings that are similar.

Households have plenty of food as they were prepared for the lunar Holiday, now cancelled. It would be like canceling Christmas holiday travel for us. So food shouldn’t be an issue initially.

Not relevant. you aren’t in the middle of an outbreak at Ground Zero of an epidemic.

I am seeing references to eating off same plates but dont really know since I cant see the whole story.

No. But if we took the time to add them all up, what do we have? 300 eyewitness accounts?

I am not saying we shouldn't monitor the situation. But normally-rational Deplorables are sipping from the pandemic hysteria fountain like liberals do from the climate change hose. When that happens, I step back.

I bet you a $20 donation to FR that in 60 days, this thing will be less impactful than influenza is in the USA.

Using data that comes from a communist Chinese gov that has never, not once, ever in its existence ever admitted to anything that might make it look bad.

Uh huh. Riiight.

This is true. A few years ago there was an earthquake in China that killed a lot of people, and the Chinese government basically pretended it didn’t happen.

But now China is going public, quarantining whole cities without even trying to hide it. That worries me.

Both Mega Cities now have the number of infected that just a few days later cause Wuhan to be locked down. Now they probably stopped those 100 K food gatherings, so the rate should be slower ?

Um, actually I said "Thus, a 3% CFR isn't scary if it's unlikely you'll catch it. It's like AIDS."

I'll spell it out for you. The mortality rate is frighteningly high for AIDS but you can't get AIDS by simply being in a room with an AIDS patient. It's not that contagious. sorry for any offense.
