Thought it may be a good idea to have a place to follow all the fast moving events in one place
updates coming in fast
I was very shock, I am somewhat speechless. If you want to know the real China read what this young man is saying.
The non-reviewed article cited is pretty pessimistic.
I’m not sure what’s with this trend of publishing non-reviewed articles.
I’m no expert in epidemiological modeling, but I’d say it’s a bit too, early to have solid data to make an accurate model.
The authors of the non-reviewed article essentially acknowledge that.
Baylor Univ. sanitized that student’s dorm room and the hall. Can’t sanitize the whole campus or all the students who lived in that dorm.
“Could be 1 million by end of February. “
A lot less than 100 million.
Vegas should have a betting line on it.
The denominator is almost certainly wrong.
There will be mld and asymptomatic infections. They just haven’t been found yet, and won’t be for w while under the conditions that exist in Wuhan right now.
“I didnt post that.”
I know you didn’t post it. You were defending it, saying it was simple math.
“I dont think anyone can know how many will be infected by the end of February.
This virus is known to mutate once it hits a new host. Its had thousands of tries so far in this outbreak to do so. Lets hope its becoming weaker...”
I agree.
That’s probably the hospital for elite party members.
Do you understand extrapolation. Yes or no?
FYI everyone following this, there is a very good site called flutrackers.com that has people from all over the world (some epidemiologists, some hobbyists) presenting news articles, links to research, and guesstimates about CFR, etc. If you visit, the easiest way to navigate is click on Latest Activity.
“From NEJM to Wired?
You *do* get around... :-D”
Yeah.
Info can come from anywhere. You got to know shinola from something else and you can pick up a lot of solid info, often wading through a lot of the done thing else to get there.
Here at FR I would post as references mainly scientific or medical journal references but most people wouldn’t or couldn’t read them. But these two NEJM articles today were pretty straightforward.
Interfax: 7 Chinese tourists with high fever have been hospitalized in Moscow. They were staying at a hotel in the capital and other guests are also being tested.
Russia’s Health Ministry says they’re investigating 7 suspected cases of new coronavirus, including 1 fatality, near the border with China. This does not include the 7 patients with high fever in Moscow.
Check the comments...we have locations of rapid blocks, also...check the map, lost of roads not blocked...there are WeChat groups dedicated to how to escape wuhan...almost everyone who tries gets out https://t.co/6tOS3bl6i4— Harry Chen PhD (@IsChinar) January 25, 2020
Chinese researcher escorted from infectious disease lab amid RCMP investigation
Thanks for posting. Sad and tragic. This is further confirmation of what many know about China. Don’t listen to what is said, watch what is happening. BTTT.
So, the Austrian cases were walking around for 2.5 weeks. Guess that explains why the Texas officials are saying there may be more here. AND they still haven’t said where the 3rd TX possible case is living though all indications are Central TX which I’m thinking UT.

He’s sniffling throughout. I hope, for his sake, it’s sniffling from held back tears and emotion. And not the virus.
