Bob, I agree, there is no question as to what the Democrats want to do with this.
There is some precedent for considering that the Senate does not act as a jury. I am no certain how this would effect whether they can call witnesses. (I don’t think they should, that was the House’s job.)

If we remove six Dems for Hunter's sake, there is a pool of 94.
Half of that for a quorum would be 47; 2/3 of that (32, rounding) would have to vote to impeach. But to get there, we'd have to have ALL Dems left (44) showing up, and only 3 GOP members.
I just don't see that happening, even with ALL the never-Trumpers sitting out.

The Senate can act as it votes to act. McConnell would be a fool to allow the Senate to continue to prosecute POTUS. There could be a public uprising.

My math was off by half. I’ve been drinking so you’ll have to forgive me.
100-6 = 94.
Republicans have 53 seats and Democrats hold 45 with 2 independents.
Now we’d be at 53 (R) and 39 (D). The 2/3 rule is for a quorum of the seated Senators, not all the Senators in the Senate.
They can’t win. Even if no Senators are excluded because of bias. Exclusion makes it even worse for them.
