"Riamh nár dhruid ó sbairn lann!" |
Did you say kitties? I got 'em. And they would love to cuddle with warm doggies! Happy Caturday...and Dogurday! |
Hey there! We had ice accumulate overnight. Poor doggie doesn’t like to walk on it. The grass is like some weird Dr.Seuss creation. Spikey.
Can’t go anywhere today. Cancelling my glamorous trip to the township dump/recycling center.
Took a while to walk in the slippery grass to get the mail. If I still had ice skates I could have skated to the mailbox.
I love winter!
: )
On the good side....the birds are very active at the feeders today! Pretty female cardinal is out there now, saw a nuthatch earlier, yellow finches enjoying their special blend of seed too.
Best for you and doggie just to stay in, have hot soup and curl up with a good book or movie. Brrr!
Bible in a Year:
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
Wallace Stegners mother died at the age of fifty. When Wallace was eighty, he finally wrote her a noteLetter, Much Too Latein which he praised the virtues of a woman who grew up, married, and raised two sons in the harshness of the early Western United States. She was the kind of wife and mother who was an encourager, even to those that were less than desirable. Wallace remembered the strength his mother displayed by way of her voice. Stegner wrote: You never lost an opportunity to sing. As long as she lived, Stegners mother sang, grateful for blessings large and small.
The psalmist too took opportunities to sing. He sang when the days were good, and when they werent so good. The songs were not forced or coerced, but a natural response to the Maker of heaven and earth (146:6) and how He gives food to the hungry (v. 7) and gives sight to the blind (v. 8) and sustains the fatherless and the widow (v. 9). This is really a lifestyle of singing, one that builds strength over time as daily trust is placed in the God of Jacob who remains faithful forever (vv. 56).
The quality of our voices isnt the point, but our response to Gods sustaining goodnessa lifestyle of praise. As the old hymn puts it: Theres within my heart a melody.
How can you make singing praises to God a regular part of your day? Whats your favorite song of praise? Tell us why on our Facebook page.
Maker of heaven and earth, when I pause and reflect, Your provision for and protection of me is overwhelming. May my life be a continuous song of praise to You for as long as I live.

Thanks for the blessing and hope you had a good day!
It was lovely here (70 degrees!), with a beautiful blue sky. Almost like Hawaii, but with no leaves on the trees and lots of leftover salt on the roads. Weird!
Pretty icy here and thankfully, not much snow fell on top of it. Will be 36 in a couple days so maybe that will help. Could use some sun.... getting sun deprived.
cheers
Ice can be treacherous. Be careful, Dear FRiend!
Yea, it is crazy slippery out there.
I salted yesterday.
Glad most of the snow missed us.
I bet there are lots of people going to the ERs for slip and fall injuries.
Main roads were good today but others slushy. Not too bad.
Well, I know that this exquisite “January Thaw” won’t last long.
But it sure is nice while it lasts.
So cute!
Good night dear Kitty Mittens!
Bible in a Year:
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Jeffs compassion had its source in Jesus. In Matthew 9:2733 we get a glimpse of Christs compassion in the miraculous healing of two blind men and one demon-possessed man. Throughout His earthly ministry, He went about preaching the gospel and healing through all the towns and villages (v. 35). Why? When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd (v. 36).
The world today is still full of troubled and hurting people who need the Saviors gentle care. Like a shepherd who leads, protects, and cares for his sheep, Jesus extends His compassion to all who come to Him (11:28). No matter where we are in life and what were experiencing, in Him we find a heart overflowing with tenderness and care. And when weve been a beneficiary of Gods loving compassion, we cant help but want to extend it to others.
When have you experienced Gods tender care? Who can you reach out to in compassion?
Heavenly Father, were so grateful You had compassion on us! We would be lost without You. Help us to extend Your overflowing compassion to others.
Thank you.
